Ahh I've been here for as long as I can remember. I remember going to PackerChatters and finding out the website kept crashing because of lack of bandwidth or some kid hacked in..
Had to start all over again with a new name and new post number. Eh well....
I've been here through several iterations of the site now as well...
I've also had discussions with the mods during other iterations about how I think displaying post counts or valuing members based on how many posts they have made is kind of juvenile...
But we're back at it again - I guess I don't really care anymore...

I think there should be some type of a Reputation Bar. It could help new people on the site to find the best posters and who are really respected. The bar should be "bad rep" and "good rep".

That is even worse...
You have people trashing your "rep" because they don't like your opinion? No thanks...

I don't think any poster would do that here. If they don't agree with someone then they should discus it. They have this on other sites I go on and it has never happened to anyone.

I don't know how that would work. Because from time to time, even the best posters get a little on edge and tpe things they don't mean. Plus you have to consider that some posters state their opinions and others state facts and stats...
So which would get a better rep?

I've seen those on other boards and they work pretty well.

Hello
Mark - I know this question has been asked before, but like many others I was here before your site was invaded by a few years ago. I first logged on the year Ahmad "can't let go " Carroll was drafted. Is it possible to add those posts to my total?
Thanks

Some people use it as a source of self esteem. More power to them if it makes them happy.

i use to worry about it, seeing people have more posts and me and thinking that i would not be as respected as others that have a high post count.
now i worry that even if i get a high post count people still wont care for my opinion and force me to realise that my opinion as about as profound as an onion!

Re: the idea of a reputation bar, two thoughts:
1. Only if it has really good liquor in the well and lots of good bar food.
2. Ever since high school when certain babe-esque girls always seemed to gravitate toward the bad rep guys, I've wanted a bad rep "score".

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Well - there is a hidden 'reputation' level here on PackerChatters... On your profile page there is a 1-5 star rating that other users can click on.
And guess what - it's being used just like I expected. Some petty user didn't like something you posted several months ago? One star for you!

Some people seriously need to grow up.

I hear you, Heat - Honestly - I couldn't care less about post count, poster ranking and reputation on a web site... I have more important things to care about. After all - present company excluded -many times somebody with several thousand posts on this site has less and less quality compared to the quantity of the posts. (Not you Heat - I gave you 5 stars...

)
It just takes away from my overall enjoyment of the forums when people can be petty with user ratings...
