Full Version: Understanding thread merges...
PackerChatters > Support > Admin Support
Bruce
We had a 20 page thread related to Koren Robinson's suspension, pending return and finally news of his suspension being lifted.

That all has happened and I understand and appreciate the work of the MOD's in maintaining thread discipline and keeping them all under one thread. Thanks for this and for your hard work in keeping this a GREAT site.

However, Koren Robinson is now back in the NFL and a Packer player. Yesterday I reported some news regarding his struggles holding on to the ball and his frustration. It was quickly merged with the lengthy thread about the suspended Koren Robinson.

Are all thoughts and news related to Koren Robinson now going to be buried in this old and tired thread? I hope not, since I most frequently ignore that thread since it has about two pages of original work and 18 pages of obsessive repeats.

Would we do the same with other players?

As far as I know we don't have a single Donald Driver thread or a single A.J. Hawk thread...

I really do appreciate the fine work you Mod's do, but I do not understand this recent merge or the critera used in making such a decision.

i actually agree with bruce for one time in my life, the thread merging on this forum is a little bit rediculous.

Thats all im gonna say about it though cause I do love this place and in some cases the thread merging is good if u want to find out everything about one player.

So im not trying to lead a resistance group based on thread merging, but I do agree with Bruce.

FL,
If you do lead a resistance group on thread merging, let me know!!!
I'd love to join!
But I don't need no "stinking badges!!"

We try and maintain some sense of continuity here and numerous threads on the same subject does not help this out.

If we did not do this good information talking about the same thing would be buried due to the many pages of extra threads.

Bruce's mention of the Robinson thread continues to be a good one with current and recent past information.

Being a registered member here has an advantage in that when you read a thread and the next time you come back to it where a new post has been added the icon next to the post title is on. By clicking on that icon you go directly to the new latest post bypassing all the ones you had previously seen.

Moving and merging topics is a time consuming big pain for the Mods so your help is appreciated.

If you post it in the right thread already started there shouldn't be a problem. tongue.gif
