I've attended 3 Cardinals games this year. They have some decent talent at the skilled positions, but their O-line is as bad as ever. Oliver Ross, the right tackle for the Cardinals is bad. He's whiffed on blocks the last couple of weeks that have led to fumbles. Since Matt Lienart is left handed, Ross has to protect Matt's backside. I'm expecting Kampman to take advantge of Ross and have a big game for us this week.
If Fitzgerald comes back this week from a pulled hamstring, their receivers in Boldin and Fitgzerald can hurt us. But hopefully some big plays from Kampan can offset that. It's not certain yet if Fitzgerald will be ready to go yet this week.
I myself am wondering about that O-line too. I watched them play a couple early games and it looked horrific, then they protected Leinart halfway decent in the Monday Night Bears game, giving him a chance to make plays at least, though their run blocking was dreadful. Anyone wondering about the importance of the line should look to Edgerrin James and wonder if he really went from a solid 4.0-4.5 yrds/att back who late in last season had 80+ runs of eight yards or more (Alexander and Barber were the closest with fifty-some--stat heard on Sunday Night Football late in the season) to a 2.7 yrds/att clown with the longest run achieved a mere 14 yards.
Kampman has been great: 6.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, matching his career highs
already. I'd love to see him school a bad tackle, even more I'd like to see him smear Leinart's pretty-boy face all over those lovely new blades of grass. Beat him up and take his stuff! Too bad they didn't still have the carpet and we could give him rug burn too. I hope he's picking dirt out of his mouth all monday morning.
