Halfway through the season, the Packers have won half of their games and lost half. At this rate the GM/coach combo is half-done.
MVP: Charles Woodson, the only Packer heading for the Pro Bowl.
Best player, offense: Another youngster, Donald Driver.
Best newcomer: Considering the chaos surrounding him, Josh Sitton has been a rare success story, earning the dubious epithet of 'best player on the offensive line'. The Packers have secretly been running the ball very efficiently up the middle and to the right, and Sitton is a big reason for that.
Comeback player: Cullen Jenkins' playmaking gets him the nod over Nick Barnett.
Least valuable player: Too many to choose from! Aaron Rouse's inability to learn the scheme and do what he was told have left Capers & co with a devastating lack of depth at safety.
Biggest disappointment: Two handsomely-paid veterans aren't contributing much, but Greg Jennings' vanishing act is harder to explain than Aaron Kampman's.
Best play: Jermichael Finley's touchdown at the Metrodome had everything: a well-designed play called against just the right defense, a great throw and catch, nice blocking and some skillful improvisation. Perfect.
Worst plays: The sacks that Daryn Colledge gave up on consecutive plays to exactly the same move by Antwan Odom of Cincinnati. The line became a standing joke from that point (often a lying-on-its-ass joke).
Best offseason move: The Packers' worst unit last year has been one of its most dependable in 2009. Great job, Mike Trgovac, defensive line coach.
Worst offseason move: Who needs offensive tackles anyway?
The season in haiku: It's correctible / We'll go trou it in practise / And we'll get it fixed.
