Full Version: Bucks trade...

I know I have too much time on my hands, but I'm throwing it out there because I think it'd be a good trade for the Bucks. Trade Micheal Redd and Kurt Thomas to the Golden State Warriors for PF Brandon Wright and SG Anthony Morrow.
I think the Bucks are a better team without Redd. He demands the ball too much to "get his" and it hurts the team play. I especially don't want him with the promising Brandon Jennings at point and Redd demanding the ball from him all the time. It could hurt Jennings development. They move the ball more without Redd in the lineup. Thomas is getting minimal time in the rotation and would be seen as no big loss, although he does bring a certain toughness and rebounding when in.

Brandon Wright, the former NC star has been languishing on the bench in GS. This kid has got some incred. skills and would form a nice PF tandem with Warrick. He's very athletic, don't know why Nelson doesn't like or play the kid more. Anthony Morrow would be a nice replacement at SG for Redd. He can really fill it up, but is not seen as a demander of the ball like Redd is. I'm just throwin' it out there. This would be good for the Bucks, and since GS is in a sell off mode starting with Steven Jackson, why don't they keep the trend going. Thoughts?

Redd has to be moved, but the problem is his bum knee. He has to prove he can play and right now he can't. So nobody is going to want to trade for an oft injured guy with knee problems and a huge contract. I agree, though, that he doesn't necessarily fit what the Bucks do. I love Redd, but he needs to be on a team with a dominant front court and less responsibilities. He was always a #2 or #3 guy who was given #1 money.
I do like this trade idea, even though I'm not sure that Kurt Thomas fits what they do.

Michael redd has no trade value with that type of contract. I like your idea but nobody is going to want him. I say let him heal, its not like he is the marque draw on that team anymore. I say give Meeks a chance. Redd plays terrible defense, takes bad shots, the team is in a good groove right now. I will bereally impressed if they can hold Denver under 100. And Gadzurec is playing like his young days when he didn't know what the hell he was doing. You need those hustle intangible guys. He is playing like the Dutchman that we remember. He got that big contract and got away from the style that got him the contract in the first place. He is what he is.

Future and the present. Ice water in that kid's veins.

i'm a laker fan first, but the bucks are my east team. i also managed to get Brandon Jennings in the 12th round of my draft. i haven't been able to see the bucks play yet this year. obviously the dude is filling it up, but what's his game like? where do you see his ceiling?
walleyekiller54412
you would not get that kind of value for Redd bum knee bad contract = no trade value

I was asked by a friend who doesn't care much about the NBA who I would compare Jennings to that he would know. Only guy I could think of was Allen Iverson, because Jennings is similar in size and is really fast. But Jennings isn't as relentless when attacking the basket--at least not yet.
I've been a Bucks fan since '93 and Jennings is already the 2nd best point guard the Bucks have had over that stretch. I think he has much more potential then Cassell did, though. There aren't many guys in the NBA who can keep this guy in front of them, and so far, his court vision and decision making have been far beyond that of a 20-year-old rookie.
I see Jennings as an All Star PG, provided he can keep his head on straight.
(I also see him bolting the Bucks to go to New York or L.A. at the first opportunity.)

We were due a good number one pick for a long time. The Kid is very, very good.

Only bad thing is if this team does not improve and Jennings turns into a star he walks after 3 years.

PS saw a Wendy's commerical. There is now a Bango Jr?

Also checked Jennings came up only 3 points short of tieing the NBA record for most points in a game by a rookie.
diesel
Yep. One thing the NBA does right over the NFL is how they handle rookie salaries. Have we ever heard of rookies holding out in the NBA? Slot those spots and salaries, please. It could even be dropped to a 2 year first contract.

Insane 3rd quarter from Jennings (29 points).

Also, Bogut looks reborn with Jennings running the point. They really could be one of the better 1-2 combinations in the league.

THe kid looks the part of a future star he scored 55 in 3 quarters he was shut out in the 1st Q
.Lets not leave out Bogut he is having an all star year so far!! Those two are a great foundation to build on...

55 points! Wow. Broke Jabbar's rookie scoring record for a game.

I was at the home opener against Detroit (Pistons fan) when Jennings led the Bucks back for a victory and I think everyone in the building could tell that he will be a star in this league. He is really difficult to keep in front of, and despite his size can hit those tough shots in the paint (not unlike Iverson). Plus, as evidenced in the 55 he scored last night, his outside shot is improving greatly.

The only thing that concerns me about Jennings this year is that his season last year consisted of a total of 27 games in Europe, less than a college season. How will he hold up for 82 plus games? Having said that, Ted Davis of The Bucks Radio Network, who's been around the league forever, said Jennings reminds him of Iverson but with better passing skills. Compared him to Tiny Archibald who one year led the league in points and assists.

I hear he really likes Milwaukee and thinks in a few years they can be really good.

Jennings was a star in H.S. here in Cali (Compton). He is the total package, skills, personality and he is only 19 going on 20. Believe it or not, he needs to improve his jumper (really just get more consistent).

I thought he was the best PG in the draft and he was the fastest. He is lightning quick with a first step that reminds me of a young Kenny Anderson.

Many fans didn't like this pick because many draft people (umm, Jay Bilas) said he had maturity issues, attitude questions and work ethic questions as well. He also said that Jennings shouldn't have gone to Italy to play for a year and because he didn't get that much time there it would take him longer to develop here.

Wrong, WRONG (in my Charlie Murphy voice)!

Jennings actually is doing some smart things. He is driving a new Toyota (not a SUV or luxury car), lives in a decent part of Milwaukee in a modest townhouse. He is also saving 30-35% of his money because he doesn't want to be like other athletes and waste money.

I am a Lakers fan (I have been since the 80's) but if I had to choose a team besides the Lakers, it would be the Bucks. I was as excited as I have ever been when they draft Jennings. The Bucks FINALLY have a player that is actually good and with personality they can market nationwide. The last time they had that it was Ray Allen.

Back when there was no age limit, a guy like Jennings would have gone #2 in this draft based on his H.S. career and potential.
Read an outstanding post about how and why so many teams and so many "experts" whiffed so badly on Jennings:

Nice to have him here. It's been too long since the Bucks had a superstar. In the making at least.
