Watching ESPN and talk is the Browns owner wants to hire Holmgren as team president. Also metioned that he also might be interested in Ron Wolf if Holmgren would have no interest.
Cleveland needs someone to come in an clean up the mess. However, to assume the Browns would turn their team around in one season, as was done when Miami hired Parcells, is wrong. After all, the one year turnaround was just that- a bad team playing outplaying other bad teams last year doesn't translate to a mediocre team beating mediocre/good teams this season. However, Cleveland does need to go in another direction to achieve success. They need to jettison their QB's (taking a massive cap hit), and start from scratch. I'd be interested to see what Holmgren as over-seer (but not GM) could achieve. Start by hiring Parcells, and bring in a good GM (Accorsi comes to mind). Draft wisely, sign some mid-level FA's- my goodness, wouldn't that be the answer to the Packers problems as well?
