So we lose the center of our already horrible offensive line and we sign a no name receiver from the PS to replace him? We should just replace our entire offensive line with receivers. Just have 11 receivers and Rodgers on the field, and when one of them hikes him the ball have them scatter in random directions. That should confuse the defense nicely. dry.gif

It would be possible using the A-11 offense, not sure how that would translate at the NFL level, though.

Bad timing for Spitz who is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season. The packers saw him as their starting center and were going to pay him accordingly, most likely. Even if he recovers by the start of free agency teams have to be nervous about paying big bucks to a 300 pounder with back problems. My guess is he will be satisfied with a 1 year deal so he can prove his back is o.k and hope for a better contract later

Just saw that , many thought he was the better center. At least we have a decent backup in Wells, unlike LT.

I guess at this point, from what we have seen Wells and Spitz were pretty equal in their performances, so this should not make much of an impact. Not if Wells goes down, we are in some trouble. Like Stuffin said, Wells is a good back-up and this is how it should work when an injury happens. The one position on the OL that we were solid at and it will not have much impact. If we had only done the same at LT.

Even healthy, he's not Matt Birk. Seeing Wells get pushed around by Pat Williams, its bad news that Spitz is gone for the year. Hopefully Spitz comes back and plays well next year, but I would hope we come into camp next year with some competition for the spot.

Unless, of course, it turns out we need 7 fullbacks. You're right, it would be the prudent decision, but I won't get my hopes up until I actually see it happen.

I think they're going to wait until week 15 to IR Hall.
