Man I knew that he was making mistakes but he just had enough talent that needed to be coached. We can't waste these picks like this and watch other teams flourish with our players. That bugs me so much. I think abou that everytime I see Hunter Hillenmeyer. Jamon Meredith more recently.

Now Granted they are desperate for help but what if he is another player with all the tools to succeed that we 'gave away'.

That will p!ss me off.
Jeremy
Well, let's see if he can actually play well before we start rending our garments and gnashing our teeth.

It sounds like the only reason he's starting is because the other guy has been awful.

Come on, you can't be serious about Jamon Meredith. I know he is starting on the O-Line, but he is nowhere ready to be. The Bills have a worse line than the Packers do. They are terrible.

Here's a quote from Drew Rosenhouse just today:

"The offensive line, I believe, is potentially the worst in the NFL. Especially at the tackle position, they got rid of almost every starter from last year, banked on revamping it . . . It's absolutely shocking how that offensive line play has prohibited them from being an effective offense."

I don't disagree. He must be good enough to think he's a better option that what they had. Most of his troubles were being out of position and over pursuing. Thats a coaching issue. They need to help him read what was happening. They didn't. The Giants might and that will bother me. I am only projecting based on his Potential at the time fo the draft. I don't disagree totally with the reason to let him go at the time. But I am hoping we didn't give away a guy that just needed to be coached at the NFL level.

Or it could just be that he's an idiot. I guess we'll find out.

I find it fitting, somehow, that your avatar features Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown, for the um-teenth time. smile.gif

This makes it certain he will mplay like a Probowler.

The problem is, he's a tweener. Not big enough to play LBer, not fast enough to be decent in pass coverage. He's a tease, just like David Martin was for years with the Packers. How many times did I read "if David Martin could only live up to his potential..."? I won't even go into the Cleditus Hunt issue, though I will mention it.

Thought this thread was about Rouse? rolleyes.gif

last post by: option strikes again. For those that don't read a thread from start to finish, the last post by: encourages topics getting off topic. In my opinion, respectfully.

We have certainly seen by now that Rouse has been simply a plug-in for NY.

While I do not disagree with him being cut, I still disagree with him having been drafted and he will go down as another bust by TT.
La La La
Well he wasn't really a bust - drafted in the 4th round, was capable backup, but not really starter-material. Not a bust.

Other than Harrell, I don't know of any "busts" by Thompson. Colledge and Hawk are starters and while they haven't been stars, they have kept their jobs and have been solid, though Colledge less so.

Spitz, Sitton, and Lang are also solid to above-average starters.

Raji and Jolly are really starting to make their presence known in games; Matthews is a beast.

Nick Collins went to the Pro Bowl.

Maybe I'm just forgetting some obvious ones...I don't know. But off the top of my head, Harrell is the only Thompson bust.

(I'm not a Thompson lover - I hate his inability to use free agency more, but his drafting has been solid at least)

Yeap that is right Ray ..Anything so that it can justified by any means necasssary to say Rouse is bad and TT has another Bust...Get them Licks in....I am sure they feel good....

As far as Rouse, since I live in VA, this kid was lights outr in 2005, there seemed to be issues with him in 2006 , reasons no one knows, in 2005 he was being talked about as this kid could continue and be a very high draft in 2006. And Trust me this kid made a name for himself, he was a hitter and ball hawk...

Call them busts or whatever, but there are many factors that play into why does this one come in the NFL and just never lives to the hype... I mean Terrell Buckley come to mind, Jamal Reynolds...

Or Maybe a bust is clarified as someone like a, ala Tony Mandarich..And could soon be attached to, if the Kid never recovers Justin Harrell..

The Rouse was drafted in Round 3, not sure if I have heard others in the Sports world characterrize the 3'rd and or 4'th rounds as Bust...BUt if that is the case... I guess Dolphin Fans shoud be really Teed off at Parcells, I mean he just released a Second Round Pick (Matt Roth) from 2005 ...Wow

Ray it is a hit and miss everytime, so many particulars that help a Kid either make it or lose it... But it appears when convienant it is easier to just say TT Screwed up ... Yeap TT should just Succumb to the Fans and just plead guilty as charged, even though we know none of the particulars...

And As stated above , I will call Harrell a bust if this kid does not end up taking up the field and producing, but since it appears some in NFL GM's tend to hold on to ther upper picks to see if they pan out ala Roth from 2005 a 2'nd rounder, I take no Issue in TT and MM holding out on Harrell a first rounder, I suppose and unlike some, I dont relish in the fact of being right or wrong on my opinions or statement , as I prefer to have satisfaction in the Wins we accomplish with our Packers....Period...JMO

Divisional game - Playoffs on the line. Rouse had 12 Tackles and a Sack against Dallas yesterday. Not a bad little Sunday for a "plug".

Rouse was a 3rd round draft pick. What on earth are you talking about? A bust? Since when are 3rd round picks guaranteed to be good starting players?

He was all over the place yesterday. He played a pretty decent game.
Ellis269
I thought that he looked really good. He seemed to be very comfortable up near the LOS and focusing on the run. He still has his coverage issues, but I still think that it was a mistake to cut him in favor of Giordano. He should have been competing for the SS job and not getting stuck at FS so often IMO.
bvbagel
he was well used by the giants. he was near the LOS for run support mostly, and he was blitz a fair amount. I didnt see many times where they left him in coverage. Remember though, he had a few INTs while he was w/ GB.

That said, he wasnt working out here. maybe getting cut was the wake up call he needed. who knows.
