Interesting proposition.

Heard Pat Williams, the Vikings human run stopper, mention today that if the Vikings win the Super Bowl he would retire. As a Packer fan, knowing that Favre could retire too if the Vikings win it all, would you pull for the Vikings to win it all knowing that you might get rid of these two thorns, and maybe a few more or is that beyond Packer fan acceptance?

sinatra
No. They'll both be gone / using a walker within two years anyway. Screw'em.

No. I would never want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl. Ever.

What if by letting the Queens win one Super Bowl, you could guarantee that the Packers would win three. Would you do it then?

Would you?

I hate the Vikings and their fans. I could only imagine the bragging as if they were the only SB winner, ever.

Maybe I shouldn't have said ever but I just couldn't stomach any of our North foes as SB champs.

I would like to see the queens never win a Super Bowl- never...

My grandchildren will not see a Vikings super bowl, let alone me

Teams I would never want to see win (again) a SB:

1. Vikes
2. Bears
3. Cowboys
4. Patriots (One's enough, come on fellas smile.gif
5. New York Jets (Mark Sanchez is such a wuss. Cries after each pic)
......
31. Jaguars

I used to hate a number of teams...Broncos, Vikings, Cowboys...

But now my hatred is so totally and completely directed at the Vikings that I don't really hate any other teams anymore. I started noticing this the last couple weeks.

GM's proposal...no. I think Pat Williams is almost done anyway. They say he's finally showing signs of slowing down at age 37.

It might be too early, but starting to consider how MIN would fare in the Superdome.....

NOLA's got a remaining schedule with alot of chump teams...only games that stand out are NE, ATL & DAL.
Rest look like easy wins at this point - so best record in the NFC's not beyond the realm.

MINN's got a few more tougher games scheduled....CIN, CHI (twice), ARI & NYG (last game)....so it looks like a tougher road for them to get home field throughout.

Pack are playing for WC unfortunately and I dont see them going deep at this point.
Unless an OL develops and stays healthy, the Pack will be crippled and I dont think we'll keep AR healthy all year.

I dont think of it often, but on those occasions that I do, it pleases me to know MN's never won a SB.
I see visions of Fran Tarkenton and/or Joe Capp flailing away.....unsuccessfully.

Thats history I can live with.

NO some things are never meant to be.

I would not have minded if Bud Grant won a bowl as he was a helluva a coach but the thought of coach kick ass winning a bowl is disturbing.
VA_PackFan
Never. Period.

I might be OK with the Vikings winning a superbowl...........

......15 YEARS AFTER THEY MOVE THE TEAM TO LOS ANGELES!!! laugh.gif (as long as they move the Vikings to the NFC West and St Louis to the NFC North)

I second that one (and totally agree with sinatra's post). I think the Vikings have surpassed the Bears in terms of my dislike of NFC North rivals.

For sure- at least the Bears are Old School.
The Starcap twins seem to be playing well beyond their years, I wonder how that happens?
Phishtar
While this is all a moot point, since Brad Childress is too incompetent to win three playoff games in a row, there is no way I would take that deal.

For me, the propisition is very simple. IF Minny-ha-ha would win the SB, and some Vikes fan would try to razz me, I'd simply respond, "You're welcome."

After the blank look and the request for an explanation, I'd say, "You're welcome that we (the Packers) provided you with a real QB, so you could finally win a SB."

Any further bluster would be met with a derisive chuckle, and a superior smirk.

P.S. This would NOT be a good idea after a night of alcohol intake. Unless you have a very good medical plan- including dental.

Throw in Jessica Alba for me and its a deal sir.

Living in the Twin Cities, I do think of it often - that's the rejoinder i most commonly use to shut up Queens fans when they start talking trash. I'd hate like hell to see them ever win one and elevate themselves from the level of total incompetence that has come to characterize this organization.

You know, I've had a horrible thought these last few days - there's a very real possibility that come February, we Packer fans will be forced to choose between rooting for Randy Moss to win a Super Bowl or Brett Favre to win one as a Viking. Rooting for Moss for the first time in my life is going to feel like strangling my own child.

I'll take Marissa Miller.

Seriously though, I've never been a big, "ra ra, I'm going to vehemently root against another team" kind of guy. Now don't get me wrong, I hate the Vikes. But honestly, I think the reason I hate them, is because of their fans. I respect the hell out of AP, same with Winfield, Longwell, etc. They play the game IMO, the right way.

That said, I'm more concerned with what the Packers do. I've always been of the opinion that as long as we take care of business, we don't have to worry about what other teams do. And for me, that includes the Super Bowl. If Brett and Co. go on to win it, I really wouldn't care. I know some would be sitting at home with a bottle of Gentleman Jack and Tylenol next to them, but really, if they get that far, they've obviously earned it. I'd be more envious than anything that it's not the Pack playing in the big one.

First, you NEVER, EVER, EVER pull for Minnesota. They win a SB, and their fans become some ungodly percentage more annoying than they already are. It remains to be seen if Favre will survive a whole season dressed as Grape from Fruit of the Loom, let alone two seasons. I'll take my chances on another tearful goodbye. As for getting rid of the Williams duo, the NFL might still do that for you in time for the playoffs, pending the results of a federal appeal on their banned substance case (how bout' them good old Minnesota judges;"Sure boys, we'll just try your case AFTER the football season!"). If I don't like either team in the Superbowl, I'll gladly root for Budweiser in the bud bowl and just watch the game objectively.

Funny thoughts come to mind regards the above sentiment. I happen to be a lifelong Yankee fan. Grew up in Jersey and Mickey Mantle was my first "recognized" sport hero. That not with standing - the above comment is accurante - but pales in comparasion to the feelings between NYYankee & Boston Red Sox fans....

Neither NEVER, EVER, EVER, TILL DEATH DO US PART would root for the other team..... LOL and now that the Bosox have finally won a World Series or two (in their ancient history existence....) the level of competition between the fans is ungodly!

So - a word of advice - you're better off MN never having won the big one - cause if they do, it'll be as if thats the only big won that ever counted!

Side note - I've also found the level of comradie and "shared spirit" to be highest and best when talking to some (of the few sane) Red Sox fans. We never fail to buy each other a beer and/or laugh at ourselves over the supposed "hatred".
