Did any of you see the photo of BF and AR taken right after the first game in MN a couple of weeks ago on msn.com today?? The look in Favre's eyes is very telling. There is a lot of hostility there. How sad, really. sad.gif

I was wondering what was said between the two.

yeah, i have wondered that myself....i remember when AR was first drafted and he called Favre grandpa... and Favre responded with a toss down the field , right on the mark 50 yrds away and said ...i got yer grandpa...

At this point, who cares. Favre got what he want and Rodgers got what he wanted. We all know who is the up and coming QB.

In with the new and out with the old has always been a difficult transition.

I would much rather see the Pack really take it to Mullet head today. I hope they have a full back do nothing but aim right at him all game long. I don't care if they are kneeling down on they play.

Great post. I would like nothing better than "Mullet head" (great reference, by the way) sucking air after being ran over a number of times by Lang and Quinn Johnson and Grant. Controlling him is the key to the game IMO.

Me too!!! I want the Pack to pound that dufass into the ground. I just found BF's attitude towards AR very juvenile. rolleyes.gif

I really hope they go after him today. He doesn't like to be cut block and I'd chip him all day long. He seems to get rattled when picked on and I'd do it early and often.

I thought when you were reading his mind it was anger.
I'm glad the attitude of many here isn't junvenile rolleyes.gif

A lot of people blamed AR for replacing Favre. It wouldn't shock me that Favre would be among them -- guys never love their replacements.

Whatever, though -- ultimately the only person really hurt by that sort of thing is yourself.

Consider the spot Favre was put in. Lets say that at your job, the boss came to you and said "Train young Aaron here, so he can take over your job in two or three years." I'd be resentful beyond belief. Wouldn't you?

Most definitely. I thought Mullet head was referring to Jared Allen and I responded in that regard. Unlike a lot of other fans, Favre isn't on my mind 24/7. I've let it go.

If you were like 63 or 64 years old and performed a complex function vital to the organization, you'd be a fool to resent being asked to train up your replacement. Speaking more professionally than about football specifically, if they've given you solid employment for your entire career, I'd go so far as to say it'd be unforgivably selfish to put them in that situation.

Reminds me of the situation of this winery not far from where I live*:

It's a great place; good people, solid wines and extremely reasonable prices. It's run by a bunch of friends who are in it as "second careers", so they're mostly there because it makes them happy to do it (rather than really needing the money). They do great events like cookouts where they'll fire up a few big grills and you can BYO meat -- last year I traded two of my brats for a bottle of wine.

Anyhow, so the upshot is that it isn't a snooty Napa-style place.

This winery itself has been there a while, having been founded by the owner back in the 80's. These other folks had been brought in over time and gotten parts of the business, but all the permits were in the name of the founder.

Unfortunately, the old guy died back at the start of summer -- he was something like 82 years old. Since all the permits were in his name, they had to immediately shut down their tasting room (which accounted for almost all of their sales), and they've been shut ever since. It turns out that even a fast-track permit takes between 8-12 months, so they've been closed down and are losing money like crazy.

Anyhow, the lesson here: You can't refuse to think about the future just because it's uncomfortable. The folks who run the winery now and who've owned most of it for more than a decade were too polite to bring up the licensing with the original owner and get it transferred into the name of a corporation, and as such their business -- what these people are essentially counting on as a retirement fund -- is suddenly in legitimate danger.

* Livermore Valley Cellars (LVC). It's located in the Livermore valley just east of the Bay Area with a bunch of other wineries, and is what Napa was 30 years ago before it got so overly touristy. If you're visiting, I highly recommend a visit to the area.

Ricky,

This is what the Vikings want him to do while he is at MN. If he is dumb enough to think he will never be replaced, then he is a bigger prima donna than he has become.

Rodgers has said Favre has not talked to him since leaving GB. I guess Rodgers tried to contact him a couple times but never got a call back. Call it what you want, private or self-centered Favre won't talk to anyone unless he wants too.

I've only heard that Rodger's tried going through a 3rd party, I haven't heard that he directly called him.

Most people do this on a regular basis. You train less experienced people so that when you move up or retire they have replacements.

Favre wasn't worried about being replaced. As long as he wanted to play the Packers seemed happy to have him back.
