According to STATS Inc. (the best stat/data source in sports)

At this point the Green Bay Packers lead the league with the fewest missed tackles -- 10.

As many of us predicted Dom Capers defense was going to be predicated upon solid football play and improve and expand as the season goes on. Considering their 3rd in total defense ranking and tops in tackling that could mean some great thinks

Meanwhile, their Sunday opponent, the Minnesota Vikings are 31st in the NFL, with 24 missed tackles ranking only ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have 25 missed tackles on the season.

With Winfield out, one of the Packers surest tacklers despite playing Cornerback things may get worse this Sunday at Lambeau.

The running game is starting to get its legs and the YAC's may be back as Rodgers and the receivers strike quick to slow the Vikes pass rush. The best way to neutralize Allen's intense pass rush is by running at him, drawing at him, screening his side of the field and quick checkdowns to backs coming off of chipping him.

If Rodgers and the Packers play fast, their will be opportunities to take advantage of a poor tackling Vikings defense.

Nice find!

I sure hope we see evidence of this tomorrow.

Still, the Vikings are 6-1; the Packers 4-2. The Packers have not won against a team that has a winning record. Statistics are interesting, but ultimately can be utilized to prove any point of view. If the Packers beat the Vikings (which I absolutely expect them to do), despite the statistics of either team, the number of points scored (the only statistic that matters) will determine the outcome.

ricky, of course stats are just stats, but if we cannot look at, analyse and discuss things between games - why bother posting in a forum.

The standard response to every post could/would be all that matters is the W or the L - nothing more to say.

However, if one wants to study areas of strength and improvement, then stats are a useful tool for doing so.

Watching the Steelers-Vikings game last week, the tackiling by Minny was atrocious. Arm tackling galore, tacklers stepping out of the way of runners, it was suprising. Vikings can't afford to continue that trend and hope to be in contention for anything. I hope the packers punish them for their lack of tackling demeanor.
