I am surprised there is not a thread for this young man.

IF things slow down for me I might write a story about Spencer in the next couple of weeks

I was hoping he would go unnoticed. Keep the secret weapon a secret.

Lets hope his contibutions the rest of they way are as significant as last sunday's game. That would really be something.

He looks more natural catching the ball and running routes than I thought he would at the position. He'll never be a number 1 or probably even a number 2 for many teams (including Green Bay), but he's much better than the stiffs a lot of teams have at backup Tight End, those guys that can only catch it if they're wide open in the endzone on a goalline play.

Did he have a fluke week over the Browns or can it continue vs Min? He needs to step up big if Finley isn't playing.

Bruce, it's guys like this that make a difference. when injuries occur and that next guy steps up, it makes a difference in losing and winning.

Guys like Jermichael Finley. last year, his rookie year, was there ever a more green ,immature player?

2nd year he is probably our no 4 PLAYMAKER on offense behind only Rodgers, Jennings and Driver. Finley goes down then Havner steps up....cooincedence?

I wonder why we don't talk about BOB McADOO, the position coach who has put these players in a position to contribute to this team.

Yes, Havner is a surprising player, who had ever thought he could step in and play like this....Havner is a football player who seems to be physically and mentally ready to play on a whistles notice at more than one position. many even questioned his spot on the final 53, maybe now we know the rest of the story.

Guys like Jermichael Finley. last year, his rookie year, was there ever a more green ,immature player?

2nd year he is probably our no 4 PLAYMAKER on offense behind only Rodgers, Jennings and Driver AND has developed as a blocker. Finley goes down then Havner steps up....cooincedence? Lee keeps improving/developing.....hmmmmmmmm

I wonder why we don't talk about BOB McADOO, the position coach who has put these players in a position to contribute to this team. Mac's position group keeps elevating their play and improving this team

More than that I'd like to ask McAdoo"Bob, have you ever coached Offensive Line?"

I agree that McAdoo is doing well at coaching, however, I don't think it is Bob. biggrin.gif He was the NBA Player. The Packers coach is BEN McAdoo.

In regards to your question on coaching offensive line, in 2005 he was the assistant Offensive Line coach for the 49ers.

Before coaching in the NFL, he was mostly an offensive assistant for a few different colleges. He was offensive line coach for Fairfield University in 2002, however, the football program was disbanded after that year. He also had a brief stint at Stanford in 04 coaching their Tackles and Tight Ends.

He did coach for 4 years in High School before coming to coach college.

Since he is 32, if he coached in the NFL for 6 years, coached in High School for 4 years, and coached in College for 3 years, it looks like he started coaching when he was 19, so I am guessing he never played college ball.

I have to admit that I was very surprised when Havner made that terrific catch and run. I have heard his name called before, especially on ST but it's exciting to see a player come in and contribute the way he did last week.

I know that they are hoping Finley can come back but I am very doubtful. At least Aaron will have another option besides Lee and the defense will have to account for Havner after last week's performance, even if he isn't the go to guy.

Yes he was, and Spencer Havner is turning out to be a fine young football player whose value is far greater than most would have ever imagined.
Gregg
I agree.

The importance of Havner is his versatility.

The guy can play OLB, TE and ST.

Because of that, he allows you to stack other positions with depth.
Be_Here_Now
dude had another GREAT game! somebody might be a ST pro bowler!
WCH
Anybody else thing that Havner's college coach might be smacking himself for not putting the guy at TE?
