While browsing the site today, I kept getting this message when a new page loaded:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options..."

Never had this message on PackChatters before today. Far as I know, the site shouldn't be trying to download anything to my computer (aside from cookies and temp files, which shouldn't trigger this). What's the deal? I'm guessing it's an over-aggresive banner ad (the Xerox one is currently displaying at the moment, with the warning message in tow, but I'm not sure if the same ad was displayed every time).

Same thing happened to me yesterday, but it said it was closing IE to prevent the site from downloading malicious script, or something to that effect.

The PC site. Now complete with massive scripted ads, multiple popups, and as of last night a nice AV-scanner spoof browser hijack.

nice.

I usually bypass the front page and go right to the forums to avoid the most of the ads, pop ups, etc.

If you don't want ads and pop ups, just get an ad blocker. There's some good stuff on the home page.

To bad cuz you are missing out on a lot of good information.

The new wave of advertising is now (not just here) and for some unfortunately bothersome to an extent. Advertising is how we stay running and we have over the years been doing everything possible to keep PackerChatters.com and our features free.
