Full Version: Fox plans "Non-Stop Favre"
PackerChatters > PackerChatters > NFL Talk > NFC North

Thought ESPN was obnoxious in their Favre coverage? Baby, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

QUOTE
Fox announced that it will have a camera "isolated on Favre from the second he takes the field against his former team until the moment he runs back into the locker room."

Favre leading the Minnesota Vikings against his old team, the Green Bay Packers, is going to be the story of the week in the NFL media, and the folks at Fox are going to milk it for all it's worth. In fact, if you want to watch three hours-plus of Favre, you'll be able to see every move Favre makes for the entire game online at either FoxSports.com or NFL.com.

Is it overkill? Perhaps. But considering the huge TV ratings ESPN got for the first edition of Favre vs. Packers, you can hardly blame Fox for pulling out all the stops in its coverage of the rematch. If you're watching football this week, be ready for non-stop Favre.

Cripes.

It wont be just the game part, I expect reports from the hotel and helicopter reports as the Viking bus leaves the Hotel for the game. Overkill is the norm.

You can also Catch Favre at 9:00 AM Est on NFL network sitting down with Mooch

I can just imagine the tough questions that'll come out of that interview: "Brett, what would you say is the main reason you've become the best football player who ever lived, you're unmatched toughness and love for the game or your amazing talent and leadership skills?"

laugh.gif , or perhaps they will take the train to Green Bay so we can get live reports from McCarthy saying "The train has left the station". laugh.gif

While annoying in this instance since it's making an even bigger deal out of Favre's return to Lambeau Field, I really don't see why the studios don't do something that is paramount to this in every single game. You could easily put a constant camera on Brett Favre, Chad Ochocinco, Ray Lewis, Terrell Owens, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Vernon Davis, Aaron Rodgers, etc. etc. etc. and have it pay dividends. People want to see these guys make the key plays and take in all their reactions no matter where they are on or off the field. I'm amazed that the studios don't pick a single player from each team every week to mike up and follow around with a camera for the whole contest. I'm sure that there's a lot of times that it would provide compelling drama.
Jeremy
In all honesty, I thought they did this already. Have you ever seen Favre or any other QB make a great throw (or bad INT) and not have them show his reaction afterwards? I figure they always had a camera on the QB. I suppose maybe not if he's not on the field. Maybe that's the difference. unsure.gif

WOW. Obsessed much?

Thanks for the warning. I will make sure that I do not turn on the tv until the game is ready to start.

Yeap!

I live in Chicago so I don't get WTMJ and Wayne on the airwaves. I signed up for NFL Field Pass (live radio) SOLELY for this game because I don't want to listen to the FOX announcers go on and on and on and on about BF.

$19.99 to not listen to Marv Albert or whoever Fox has obsessing over Favray = Priceless

Yeah, I'm close enough to the Wisconsin border (10 miles) that my plan is to turn the sound off on the TV and listen to the radio feed from an AM station in Hudson that carries the Packer games. I just bought a new AR-15 at the gun shop today, so I'm too broke to buy a new TV if I shoot this one with my new rifle halfway through the 1st quarter.

Hahah, the saddest part of my story is that there is 3 HDTVs in the house, but since the HD cable box delays the feed 7 seconds until all the pretty images get to the tv, I may be watching the game on an old TUBE TV!.

I was just going to start a topic on this after reading it in the JS Online. I guess in England you can do that for soccer. You pick a player and the camera will follow that player during the game. Sounds kind of boring to me.

Due to contract issues, though, they are not allowed to stream Packer games online. The feed will cut off right before the game starts. Trust me, I've tried.

I may just turn the sound down and watch the game itself.
I dont want to continually hear about "the greatness" that is BF after he completes some 8yd out.

I'm hopeful the Packer D brings the kitchen sink and puts hits/sacks on him.
Its then that the quick releases and errant passes turn into interceptions.....

Never heard of this Favre guy did he play for the Green Bay Packers or something? laugh.gif
Crosby11
Muting it for sure.

But hey at least it's on t.v. for me this week... Along with the rest of the country.

I knew when Favre was still a Packer the announcers were obnoxious with the praise and I was a fan.

Now... they are extremely biased. Not that that I'll be listening to them.

Just heard that Favre has sit down interview with Fox as well...with none other than Terry Bradshaw.

Seriously, does this guy ever sit down to an interview with someone who's not a huge fan? Maybe Madden can come of retirement long enough to sit down with him, too.
