Full Version: Rumor: Packers To Sign Marvin Harrison?
PackerChatters > PackerChatters > On the Streets
Arrigo
I got an e-mail from a friend who said he heard that the Packers and Marvin Harrison are close to a 1 year contract.

UPDATE:

I guess WSSP is also reporting it, but there is no link up yet.
(I am NO WHERE NEAR WSSP so this is 2nd hand info as well)

Good move if its true, Harrison in the slot would be helpful, but it doesnt mean much if Rodgers doesnt have time to pass. Make it happen TT.

Nothing on their web site or ESPN.com or CNNSI.com All thats mentioned is they signed Allen from PS
Arrigo
I don't know ATL. I guess Tom Pellesaro was on w/ whom ever was on the air and as they were talking about it they went to break from what I gathered/read. If anyone was listening or a link is found, put it up. I know I will if I find it.

From Jpackman on a different thread:

"According to Peissero, Packers sign WRs Biren Ealy and Patrick Williams to practice squad. G Stanley Daniels cut. Williams was waived/injured in camp".

Harrison looking unlikely after these moves but you never know.

Pelisseros update on Twitter:

Packers sign WRs Biren Ealy and Patrick Williams to practice squad. G Stanley Daniels cut. Williams was waived/injured in camp.

Certainly this move would put us well above being the youngest team in the league. I'd like to see it happen if only to get the bashers off the "TT isn't happy unless we're the youngest team in the league every year" talking point.

That already happened with the signing of Tauscher and Green.
Arrigo
IF Jordy Nelson is out for an extended peroid of time, I can see this happening. He is healing slower then expected and they may not want to retard his development so they may I.R. him.

Mr Harrison still has some off the field issues to deal with. The chances of this happening are about the same Farve sending Thompson a Honey Baked Ham for the Holidays

LOL
NeuBrew
Agreed. Harrison has some major (and creepy) legal issues to deal with.

Packers To Sign Marvin Harrison? Most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time.

Harrison is being investigated by the Philly police in a murder case in which the victim (before he died) told police that Harrison is the one that ordered him killed.

Harrison shooting update

The fact that no one signed Harrison this offseason should show you something. Indy lost Gonzalez and still wouldn't touch him.
Vinnie
Marvin has been connected with almost every team in the NFL as far as a deal... Queens, Cowboys, Bears, and now Packers.
JimATX
If you mean connected because it has been posted on internet message boards, then I'd agree. Otherwise, there have been no connections from what I understand.

GBP4EVER
Harrison has a large legal issue to deal with plus he is old and slow. The guy can not even get a team to work him out much less sign him.

I was hoping they would reach out and sign Kitrick Taylor
Cocoman
I hear Frankie Neil is available.
Bruce
My sources wink.gif tell me that the Packers are close to signing Jake Allen.

Oh, they already have?

Damned those sources are good laugh.gif

Harrison still has some of the best hands period, maybe he lost a few steps, but he is football smart.

I would take him over Jake Allen.

I don't know how true this is or is this a Kampman for Peppers rumor all over again.
Crosby11
Indy let him go. Why?

And they had all the reason in the world to keep him.

He's not even close to the Harrison of old.

What baggage are you talking about?

From what I remember he's only been in trouble with the law once but nothing came of it.
GBfaninAZ
IMO, Harrison has been done for a couple of years. But hey, it's one of those moves that might help a little, and can't hurt at all, so why not?

That case is stil open
Jeremy
The last couple years teams have been lining up their #2 CBs one on one against him and he hasn't been getting open. This is one case where I'll take the youth over experience.

Yes only once, but there is a lot against him right now. Case is also still open.

That's a BIG ONE THING! lol

Im a little confused by that.

The man fingered Harrison as the gunman and then goes on to say Harrison hired someone to do it.

Which is it?

I guess Im just having a hard time buying this story considering Harrison, his past and the fact that its been months and not a peep from anyone about it.

Good money and good laywers. I don't know either, but I agree this was a story that kind of went away. I must admit I forgot about it untill it was brought up here.
