I'm in a 12 teamer, 4-2 record, fighting for a division crown.

The team Im playing this week, didn't set his lineup (thought he did), and let Sunday go by....I'm up 10 pts. tonight with the Philly D against his Clinton Portis. I feel(felt) pretty good about it.

I call up the Commish and asked why the guy forgot to set up his lineup. He said good thing I had brought that up because he was going to call the guy and find out. Now, my opponent had two WR in his starting lineup that was on the bye week, so they never played. It so happens he has Randle El on the bench to play tonight...

My friend, the Commisioner, is inserting Randle El into my opponents lineup tonight to 'save the intergrity of the league'. 'It's not right to have teams roll over.'

Is this right?

If he ends up winning, I'm suppose to pay because he forgot to make sure his lineup was set?

Nope if he forgot to submit his lineup he should not be allowed to or if he does he should pay a penalty in points or money.

Morally right? No.

Technically right? Yes or no. What's your league constitution say about this? If your league constitution doesn't cover this issue, then there's nothing you can really do. Except bring it up in the off-season try to get in included for next season.

If your constitution clearly states this shouldn't be done, bring it up and demand that it needs to be changed back. If they don't comply, if it's a money league, ask for your money back.

Well the Philly D should have taken care of busniess for you!

Rosters should be set before the games have started.. .. since washington hadn't played and neither did the players on byes.. the guy could have gone and set his roster just before game time, as those players should still have been editable.

This is correct. I would not fault the commish for calling the guy up and giving him heads up on this, but for him to make that change himself "for the integrity of the league" is not setting a good precident. You can't really be making moves on behalf of one of your players. What's next? Guy decides to play Garrard instead of Drew Brees and after Garrard has a bad game, he switches it to Brees "for the integrity of the league?"

This is the worst part of being commish, dealing with people who quit mid season. I've only had one in my 10 years of being commish. I just let it all play out. We had a guy win with 21 points one time because he was playing an absentee owner who had 5 players on bye. That owner ended up winning it all after just squeeking into the playoffs. Without that gift he would have missed the playoffs. Wish I'd had a better solution. Im not sure what the answer is in situations like that.

This may not be correct.

Like I said before, it depends what their league constitutions says. Per league constitution, if it's up to the owners to ensure their lineups are set before the deadlines, then the commissioner should've never stepped in. If it's not, then all he can do is discuss adding a rule about this during the off-season.
