Anybody heard anything on the status of perpetual IR member Justin Harrell? Havent heard anything since he went on the IR in early Sept. I know he'll only count about $650,000 against our cap this year, but havent heard much about his progress or lack of on his back.

Likely won't until next offseason either. There's just not that much info on injured players who won't be playing until next season. Hopefully he and Lee will be healthy and capable of competing and producing next year. We'll see though. I don't think you can count on either guy at this point.

Hmmm... in the greatest drive-in movie ever made, "Escape From New York", Kurt Russell played "Snake" Plissken. A multiple joke throughout the movie was "other characters saying, ""Snake Plisskin? I thought you were dead!"

The same thing can be said about Harrell's "career"- only with much more justification. This was a big mistake on TT's part. Absolutely no offense meant to Mr. Harrell, or any of his supporters.

Justin Harrell? I thought he was dead! blink.gif

He's fine. Then around training camp, he'll re-injure something, be placed on IR and have to retire. Sounds about right.

He's all done. Nothing to see here folks. Strange pick. But even the great ones miss sometimes.

IF I read all the threads right the Great One has only hit on AR in the first, some say because he fell into our laps. Some say he has only hit on 50% of his second rounders. So he has one winning season and he is the Great One, seems like some have lowered expectations.

"Some say" = cute phrasing to avoid taking ownership.
If you read what diesel wrote, he never said that Ted was a great one, he said "but even the great ones miss sometimes", which might refer to Ted, and equally, might not.

If Rodgers 'fell into our laps', why did he fall out of the lap of every team drafting brefore us ? That is 21 different teams that he 'fell out of the laps of', and Minnesota and Dallas both had two shots each to pick him up. A good pick is a good pick, to say anything else is just pushing an agenda.

First round picks are

2005 Rodgers (24th)
2006 Hawk (5th)
2007 Harrell (16th)
2008 No first rounder
2009 Raji (9), Matthews (26)

Second round picks are

2005 Collins (51), Murphy (58)
2006 Colledge (47), Jennings (52)
2007 Jackson (63)
2008 Nelson (36), Brohm (56), Lee (60)
2009 no second rounder

You can sort out your own criteria on what a 'hit' means. At least with the names up, it is easier to judge results.

Good catch, I have amended the original post to include him. He was there originally, until I fiddled with my post to change things a bit, and in the amended version he was missing.

Give me a break. Said it before, will say it again...how anyone can look at this young team filled with promise (and playing well this year) and be disappointed and/or negative is just totally beyond me. Finley, James Jones, Jennings, Collins, Jolly, Matthews, Raji, Rodgers, Nelson... And also the guys we didn't sign: Corey Williams, Canty, Ahman Green (when he went to Texas for the big contract).

If you feel the need to slam Ted Thompson at this point, the problem is you.

This team has not played well this year. It has been average.... And at the end of the day sans the OL this team has been very injury free, much like 2007. Where I disagree with you is the use of the word "promise" this is year 5 for Thomspon and its time to show results on the field. Am I happy with the last 2 wins hell yes but IMO its the same as UW playing Wofford. Its not a real indicator as to where we are as a team. This team has been sloppy this year (penalties, sacks and drops) and that should not be happeing. Sunday begins the hard part of this teams schedule and we will have a much better idea in the next 3 weeks where this team stands. There is no reason this team cannot finish 10-6 or even 11-5 with the talent and "promise" on the roster. If it does not then its time to question the direction of this club and take a look and see if this youth and talent is a little oversold
