Charlie Walters said in his column today that"if Favre were to retire after leading the Packers and the Vikings to Super Bowl Championships, it wouldn't be surprising if Minnesota retired his #4 jersey-before the Packers could retire it." Now wouldn't that be a hoot!!!

I said the hoot remark in jest. I live in NW Wis. and the St. Paul paper is all we get here. I average 5000 mi. a year to Lambeau to see the Packers play.

Fine with me.
Although it may be a pipe dream. Favre isn't so hot in January.

He doesn't need to be. He has the best running game in the NFL and an awesome defense. All he needs to do is "game management" and not shoulder the burden.
How do you think Elway won both of his?

That defense can be had. He's going to have to make some plays in the playoffs. In the past 5 years or so he's worn down by the end of the year. He hasn't had consecutive good playoff games since '97. Of course only having 1 int in 6 games isn't his M.O. either, so who knows? If it does happen, he's more than welcome to get his number retired with the Vikings. He's already shown his true colors.

They are not invincible by any means.
Well, he has been making plays his whole NFL career. I know, I sat in the stands for a whole lot of them!

Okay, so the Vikes finally win a SB with ex Packers... How would it feel if Favre retires and decides to go into the Hall as a Queen??? Do you think he has that kind of vendictive attitude?

They don't go in connected to any team.

When they unretire it a few months later, it'll be our turn. Unless the Jets want to go second; then we can just wait a few more months until
they unretire it.

I wouldnt even want the #4 retired in Green Bay. He and anything associated with him can stay far away. He can retire a Viking and it would make no difference to me at all.

Exactly. Why retire the number of the guy who singlehandedly lost all those playoff games by trying to win all those playoff games singlehandedly?

They should give the #4 jersey to the punter for the vikings game.

I think they should print the #4 on toilet paper for use in all bathrooms at Lambeau. Thats about all the #4 is worth.

Unfortunately, I could care less if they retire his number in another city. They'll retire the #4 in Green Bay, put his name in the ring of honor, and all that, but he sucked all the fun out of it with his words and his actions over the last two years.
But I'm not too worried about the Vikings winning the Super Bowl. We can talk all we want about Brent and AP and Jared Allen, but they have a fatal flaw that is going to sneak up and bite them at some point this season, most likely in December and January. And that fatal flaw is Brad "Mr. Noodle" Childress.

I know it's a joke, but he'd only be with the Vikings for one season. That'd be huge slap in the face.

I am confused, is Charlie Waters saying that if the Vikings win the Superbowl they should force Favre out? From what I remember any talk of retiring his number is just another way of forcing him out.
Seriously, who cares what the Viking do. I will always appreciate what he did here and I hope the Packers retire his number soon after he retires again. He was truely a great Packer, I just don't think as highly of him off the field as I used to.
