Full Version: The Good ..The Bad ..The Ugly

Well let me start by Saying that I Love the fact we WON... A nice Blowout,,,,,,but there are some corrections that need to be handled.

THE GOOD:

Held the Lowless lions to only 10 First Downs. Held them to only 149 yards...

Mathews, Jenkins, Woodsen, Jennings, Driver , Finley, Rodgers, T Williams , Bigby all had a very good Game....

Harris, Jones, Nelson( Prior to Him Going Down...), Barnett ( Led the team in Tackles) had a good Game..

The TE's are back in the gameplan...

Time of Possession and 3rd Downs ...we had the ball for 40 min to Lions 20.... Also we were 50 % on 3'rd downs...

The Slants, the quick pitches and quick passes all llooked good when they executed them...

TJ Lang looked good and seems to be a natural at Left tackle ( ah Since he played it in College..) also I like the fact that Moose and Tony stated he had a nastiness to him...( Time will tell..but maybe we found a tackle....)

CROSBY MADE all of his FG attempts...4 for 4....

Kampen rushing the QB....nice to see more of that...

THE BAD:

The O still struggled on getting TD's and had to settle for FG's on 4 Times... Need to open up holes for the RB's ..Grant needs to run shiftier and look for the cutbacks..he does not seem to really look for the Holes..

Rodgers in my Opinion has some times when back ther holding it too long...not sure why maybe wanting the big strike or soemthing..but need to correct that..go with the chekdowns..+2 is better then -8 sack...

The D played great and then would have Brain farts and give up some stupid plays... Barnett and Harris need to be more consistent..They tend to give up a play and then make a big play.. Nice on the Big plays.. but the ones they give up can really hurt especially on 3'rd downs..

Campen is not a good OL coach... Period..I am not convinced..since he has had the line it has been bad...I know this is not the greatest line..But this line has the average starting line as the Bengals... and look at Palmer and Benson...( and hey maybe even Philbin...) ..The line has gone down since Jags left after 2007...and if you recall we had some makshift lines at time during 2007 and they still functioned well..JAGS got it fixed...

THE UGLY:

PENALITIES..PENALITIES....PENALITIES.... 13- for 130 ...man almost as much as the Lions total Offense.....this is Mental part of the Players..Not sure why this continually becomes an issue on every week but this HAS TO STOP...Coaching and Players need to own up to this and quit gfiving teams 100 yards a game in penalities....

SACK ....SACKS....SACKS...... I would really like to see a game where Rodgers is given time and also when he recognizes that he does not have time to quit holding it and taking the sack...5 Sacks and 6 QB hits....another area of giving up yards and stoping drives..Also it us up to the Center to call out the line for protection when he sees the Blitzes... I saw a few occasions where this was missed.. Since Wells has more expierence then Spitz....I am lost on that ...and maybe that is what MM stated at Halftime on Communication on the LINE.....

RED ZONE EFFICIENCY..... Need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot ....left 12 points on the field....

AJ HAWK -- 0 TACKLES.....

Good post.

I agree with most everything you said.

However I'd still rather have their replacements!!

(And the Queens won because Hauschka choked angry.gif .
Flacco and Rice SHOULD have led their team to a W!!)

Go Pack!!

On to Cleveland!!

Actually, go back to Favre's 58 yarder to Rice for the go-ahead field goal, who was playing in coverage *ehem, the almighty Frank Walker!

Favre kills Frank Walker and Mark Roman for two wins. Lol, those two guys are STILL driving stakes into Packer fans hearts.

I have a question......
I didnt see or listen to the game but have caught the details online after the fact. Personally, an impressive score but a "forgettable" W and not one get excited about. It doesnt sound like we could have caught the Lions at a worse time.

Anyway -

What was AR doing in the game at the end (?) or forth quarter??
The games over...he'd already taken 5 sacks and multiple hits - why was he in the game?

Even so, no point in leaving anything to chance. I was at Hooters today and there were a couple of other Packer fans there. We were all pretty much calling for Flynn at the start of the 4th.

Good: Donald Driver. Amazing catch and all time Packer record holder. One of my favorite Packers ever.

Bad: Oline. 5 sacks vs the putrid Lions D. Are you freaking kidding me?

Ugly: Penalties. Shocking that the Packers had so many... God, things really don't change do they.

Rodgers should not have been in there at point. Padding stats. Stupid. Anything can happen even on a routine plays.

mad.gif Good call. Exactly what I was thinking. I couldn't believe he was by himself in coverage like that. No wonder the ball was thrown up for grabs.

At this point I can't wait for Tauscher to get ready for a game. Barbre makes my bad list. Penalties make the ugly list, while Mason Crosby and the defense make the [very] good list. It was the Lions, but this team needed a win and a good defensive performance. The other good thing to maybe come out of this is that there is still a lot of room for improvement. Complacency shouldn't be a problem with the number of sacks and penalties.

He is my fantasy football QB, and well, let's just say I made a couple calls.

As far as Rodgers holding the ball too long, one could argure that BF would thrown the interception instead. The OL is just weak and until that get fixed there will be problems with penalties and sacks. The amazing thing is how well AR is doing despite the weak OL.

I dont even want to think how Rodgers would be doing with a better OL.

At least Marquand Manuel didn't make that list this week.

If AR goes down, the Pack can kiss their season good-bye.
In my view, in such a lopsided (to the point of meaniless) game, he shouldnt have been on the field late.
Flynn should have gotten some field time / experience / bruises.

Two countering thoughts.....
Were the Pack getting pegged with alot of false start penalties or something?
Insertion of Flynn for an extended period could cause our D to be on the field (and subject to injury) for longer than normal if he cant keep the ball moving.

Is there someplace that lists the penalties in a game?

Secondary Note: The Ravens failure to beat MN could come back to haunt us. That was a MN "L" for the having which would have served to even the division records up a bit...especially with CHI losing to ATL. Its still early...but its getting later all the time and MN needs to be beaten.

Happily MN goes on the road to Pitt. Pray for cold weather! wink.gif
