Full Version: Gaines Adams to the Bears

Hm. The Bears gave up a number two pick for this guy. He has never lived up to expectations in Tampa.

Surprised the Bears did that since they already gave up a lot for Cutler.

They must feel they need another pass rush threat with Urlacher down.

This just screams DUMB. A guy who has looked lost for 3 years for a 2nd round pick in a draft that will be one of the most stocked in years.

Ted, if you are thinking about trading a 2010 pick, don't get a bum in return!

I will say, that Rod Marinelli is a heck of a D Line coach and he loved Gaines Adams coming out college in the 2007 draft. If they can even come close to helping him reach his college potential then they got a steal. Don't know if that will be the case, but I can see why they made the deal. He's young, cheap and he still has some upside. 12.5 sacks in 2 years isn't great, but it does suggest that he might have some success if he's not surrounded by one of the worst defenses in the league.

Not so sure that a number two in that draft is actually cheap.

Marinelli is a good coach though. Its a calculated gamble that he can improve him.

It looks likethe Bears are going "all out" this year to get a division championship if not a SB title. First Cutler for mega draft picks, now Adams to boost their DL. These are not the moves of a franchise hoping to get better later. These are the moves of a franchise mortgaging the future (relatively speaking, since both players they got are pretty young in NFL terms) to win now.

If I'm a Bears fan, I like it. With Marinelli, he could become something. He hasn't been a total bust either.

A 2nd round pick for GAINES ADAMS?! laugh.gif

What a waste. Glad to know the Bears won't be upgrading their team in this year's draft.

i'm surprised they couldn't get anyone a little more proven for a 2nd rounder.

Agree 100% Remember what Marinelli did for Simion Rice, he turned his career around
