Full Version: Looking at GB opponents thus far...

2-2 is average and this team has some major issues to address. Still let's consider what the team has done so far.

Loses:
Cin- is now a 4-1 team, with wins against the super bowl champs, plus tough road wins against GB and Balt. Their only lose was to a DEN team who is 4-0 and may go 5-0 depending on the outcome of their game. It was a tough game, but Cin was the better team on the field that day, part of that I believe is the players underestimated their opponent and the coaches got the game plan very wrong.

Min- Now 5-0 with wins mostly against cream puffs, except for the 49r's and IMO GB. Tough division game and let's remember GB rarely wins in the dome. It was an embarrassing lose, but only last year GB crush Min in the opener with Min coming back to win their home game and win the division.

Wins:
Chi- Any division win is a big one. Chi has a win against the super bowl champs as well, along with a couple of easy games against the Lions and Sea Hags.

Stl: GB did not play great but it was on the road against a desperate team trying to get their first win.

Bottom line record of the team GB lost to is 9-1, the teams GB has beat 3-6. If GB wins at home against Min(which they normally do) and Cin beats Min like they did us things are essentially a wash against the vikes. Looking at this if GB is a decent team and can win the games they are supposed to win the critical game of the year will be the Chi game. My guess is Min split with Chi as they usually do, and GB gets the division on that basis. Still we will see. Anyways realizing this in the bye week made me feel better coming off a really tough loss.

Nice post. In other words after 4 games the Packers have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. This is why you have to take the season in 1/4's . Every year there are surprises and dissapointments . 2-2 if right where we should be playaying against 12 -6 teams combined . Like you said take the Rams out of it an the Packers have played against teams 12 -2 . the Pack is 1-2 agaist them. I am pretty optimistic in the Packers going into the 1/2 way point I fully expect 5-3 and a team peaking at the end..

Keep this in mind for those that are ready to jump of the ledge because the Packers are 2-2. Take away the Rams, and the Packers opponents have a combined record of 13-2. That's a pretty difficult schedule early in the season.

The Bengals and Vikings are a combined 9-1 (with the Bengals loss being that fluke play against the Broncos in week 1).

Now, after the bye week the Packers have :

Week 6 Detroit: Calvin Johnson may not play and Stafford also may be out (both with leg injuries).

Week 7 Browns : They completed 2 passes ALL GAME against Buffalo and have no weapons on offense.

Week 8 Vikings : Tough game but I think the Packers win this one @ Lambeau.

Week 9 Bucs : Offense and defensive questions. Morris seems to be in over his head, at least thats what it looks like from a far.

Week 10 Cowboys : Not the same Cowboys team that the Packers have faced in the previous years.

I could see the Packers being 7-2 or 6-3 after the half way point in the year. I don't think that is a bad first 9 weeks by any stretch.

I am sure we would all be happy with 7-2 or 6-3. Now we just need to play the games. GO PACK!

Joe, some people jumped off the ledge a long time ago...some others are waffling but really can't make up their mind.

Me, I swear that if I read that MM said, again, "That will be addressed..." after more stupid penalties, I'll scream.

and That

I remember reading in preseason how THE PACKERS were going to be 3 - 0 going into the Viking game.

Beat Chicago at home, easy. (Coulda lost)

Cincy, HA! (Lost)

Rams double HA! (Doubts were evident)

Sitting at 2 - 2, and chasing the division leader at 5 - 0, these "lets analyze the schedule posts" are sounding much like the preseason.

While I haven't jumped off the ledge, that would be just stupid, I do have trouble with predicting wins when losses are becoming the accepted standard. It seems many posters find comfort in accenting the positives. While I see the positives, I cannot accept the end result.

I will say it again, MM and TT need to start winning. Losing creates turnovers.

And as many are bored with mediocrity.

Seriously, with Jennings struggling, what is there to get excited about on this team?

Nothing .. The seasons over. The point of this thread was that the Packers in the start of the season have played 3 tough teams with combined records 12-2. They have not played well and are 1-2 against them. However they have not been blown out of the water on there losses. Some of us feel the Pack will right the ship I am one of them.

Glad most people are agreeing with this thread. Plain and simple despite them being a surprise the Bengals are a very good team, and Min is a much better team than GB too at least thus far. This does not mean this is how things will be at the end of the season(although they could be). Personally I feel better knowing GB lost close games to these goods teams, rather than losing to bottom dwellers. Further lets not forget that Chi looks even better right now.

I had thought GB would be 3-1 at this point, but that was based off of bad assumptions about the teams they were facing. Still looking at how things looks right now, the Pit, Balt, Dal, and AZ looks to be much more winnable than previously thought(not saying they will, just like their chances a little better). Again like hopefully the packers will be doing these teams could be playing better later in the season, but things have been pretty strange thus far in the NFL.

Remember last year when the Packers lost to the Falcons who the previous year was 1-15 .Everyone was upset and couldn't believe they could lose to them. All Atlanta did was go on to have one hell of a season.Another team The Miami Dolphins did the same thing last year. Every year there are teams like this, Cincinnati, Denver and the Jets are those teams this year.

I wish that the Packers were one of those teams. They were supposed to be. Expected to be. . . but it hasn't shown thus far. Maybe the offensive line and the pass rush will be better after the bye week and they'll start to emerge as one of the teams in that conversation.

The same was being said of the '07 Giants at this point of the season.

The Packers have looked pretty ugly at times so far but, anymore it takes until about week 10-12 before the real contenders start to show themselves in the NFL.

I think in most years there will be teams that you think are easy wins when the schedule comes out, but turn out to be much better teams once the season starts. Denver and Cincy come to mind. Maybe the Packers took Cincy lightly? Anyway, beat Cincy like you were supposed to and you are 3-1.

The Bears have Cincy on the road later this year and have 2 tough games comming up.

Defend the home field, and the Packers will be fine.
