Since I know some of you are more familiar with GB than I am, I thought I would come to you guys for help.

My girlfriend and I will be coming up for the 49er game on November 22. She's a huge niner fan, and obviously I'm a big packer fan so we felt this would be a great opportunity for a vacation.

We should be arriving in GB sometime in the middle of the day on the 21st, and will be leaving in the middle of the day on the 23rd. We purchased the tickets through packerfantours.com which I highly recommend, as I've gone through them once before to go to the Packer/Cowboy game up there in 2004 (Ahman Green's 90 yard TD run game). They have a pretty awesome tailgate party that we also have tickets for, so gameday is covered...at least until the game ends.

So, where are some good places to go on Saturday night/Sunday night/Monday morning?? Places would need to be for people 18 and older because she hasn't quite hit the 21 mark just yet. Places that are 18 and older that also sell alcohol would also be appreciated, as I am 23 and would enjoy that. We'll probably do the Packer HOF thing, and maybe get a stadium tour, but outside of that I'm kind of at a loss.

Any input/advice would be appreciated!!!

They have great food
Brett Favre’s Steakhouse This Green Bay favorite is filled with Packers memorabilia, including Brett Favre’s trophies and personal items. Brett Favre’s restaurant is the one place on earth that captures the spirit of #4. Retaining his spirit and style, reflecting Brett’s southern upbringing in its menu and warm, welcoming atmosphere.

He had one in Milwaukee for a while. I went there several times. Not too bad but I have to say, no place on earth has steak houses like New York City.

There are some good watering holes near Lambeau. I'd reccomend Stadium View Bar(always lotta people in there and pretty happnin'). Anduzzi's and The Bar (West) are good and happnin as well. All are within a block of each other, so no worries bout' drinkin' and driving. Being that your girlfriend is underage, maybe she wouldn't be able to get in the bars, but generally females can bypass getting carded. Not suggesting you do anything illegal now. If you choose to venture to downtown GB, I'd say Titletown Brewery for some micro brews and a little bit more upscale food. Downtown GB has quite a few cool bars on Washington St.

I lived there for 30 years, so I know the landscape pretty well. Other than that, you're on your own pal. Hope you enjoy your weekend. And a Packer victory!

laugh.gif If you want a $200 fillet I suppose. The best steak is 28oz. Porterhouse on my grill.

Nah, $100 for a porterhouse is even pushing it. Even at the famous Peter Luger's, which I feel is overrated. Some of the very best rarely make the "where to go" lists smile.gif

I have to agree with you though. I prefer to grill my steaks at home as well. EVOO, salt and pepper and 6 min. on each side and I have a juicy tender steak done medium rare.

Now, where did I put the wine opener? unsure.gif

We do a lot of grilling all year long out here but some of our favorites are done like this when we are out relaxing in the Sierras;

Notice the wine is in hand...a must of ours to great grilling.

I'd put Buenos Aires above anywhere on earth, and I have grown up in Texas and know a good steak. BA / Argentina is world famous for their beef.

Beyond that, thank you for the suggestions Ray and bluedog!

Looks good!

It is getting cold again out East but I managed to sneak in another night of grilling yesterday. One of my favorite pasttimes is watching football and grilling out.

Oh, and getting the good wine to go with it! smile.gif

I have been to Texas and I have tried their steaks. Not bad, but I have to say, it takes backseat to the Steakhouses in New York. (IMO) Vegas, Kansas City were pretty good as well.

Buenos Aires? Hmmmm. I might have to give that a try. I have not made it down to South America, yet. Thanks for the good tip!

There is a really good steakhouse in Houston

Lynn's Steakhouse Steakhouse 14/20
955 Dairy Ashford St.
Houston, TX 77079
281-870-0807
Comfortably upscale steakhouse excels at superb beef and wine selections

The founder of the successful Ruth's Chris Steak House chain, Lynn Foreman, knows how to please a meat eater. She handed over this location to proprietors Loic and Benedicte Carbonnier, who lovingly carry on the local legend. At Lynn's, superbly aged steaks are seared on a hot grill and sent to your table still sizzling. Peppercorn or béarnaise sauce can be added as an extra embellishment. The menu is straightforward and elegant: Prime cuts of beef and veal are the standards, but Lynn's also offers baked rack of lamb, Châteaubriand and some seafood selections like lobster and yellowfin tuna. Or get ritzy and order the filet Oscar, medallions of grilled beef served with asparagus and crab meat. Lynn's also tempts with escargot appetizers, duck foie gras and smoked salmon, along with a noteworthy wine list.

Oklahoma has some good places too

You can go to the Radisson and Onieda Casino by the airport there is good food there and I doubt you would have a problem with the under 21 thing as there are 3 bars in the building that you can go to. The Packers usually stay there during home games so you may run into a few players in the hotel area. For Mexican food there is Margarita's on Lombardi Ave ,I go there when the weather turns cold instead of tailgating and the atmosphere on gameday is awesome especially when GB wins.

Thanks for getting us back on the original topic question.

Another great Mexican restaurant is Los Banditos. Can't go wrong.

Want a scrumptious dinner in a comfortable setting? Here is where a lot of the locals go...The Union Hotel in DePere, WI (10 minutes from Lambeau).

Many more choices.

Good places. I'd second Titletown. If you're looking to drop some cash, Hinterland Brewing is usually a good choice. It's across from Titletown. Kroll's West is another place, it's across the street from Lambeau on Ridge Rd. They have your basic burgers, sandwiches etc and they have a bar. Both of you could go there, and you could drink.

I lived in GB for 22 years and get back every once in awhile. When I lived in Green Bay, I thought Los Banditos was great. Then I got a taste of real mexican food. The last time I went back and ate at Los is wasn't as good as I remembered.

Being away from GB, I do crave some of the food.

Sammy's Pizza / Jake's Pizza / Kroll's Burgers and Chili / Cheese curds from Stadium View / The Right Place / Hansen's frozen Pizza and Hot Subs / Chili Johns / Also Curly's Pub has some good stuff
jbeebe1571
Haven't been in town in quite a few years, but as I recall, Kroll's and Chili John's have good chili on a cold day. Sammy's Pizza was good; used to see lynn Dickey etal in there when I was a kid. If it's still there, the Replay lounge had great burgers. The A & W had a fireplace in the middle of it and had great root beer floats. Too bad Shakey's Pizza is gone, they had a player piano, beer pitchers, game room, good pizza and these awesome fried taters called "mojos". Just ask around, Green Bay and Ashwaubenon are loaded with good eateries. Do any readers remember Nino's steakhouse?
LMG
Nino's was a great place for excellent food (steak).

Also a super cocktail hour.

Pizza. All good choices mentioned and I'll add Frank & Pat's to the list. Frank's Special with fresh mushrooms is awesome!!

Los Banditos is reliable, you always know what you're getting. That is, white people "Mexican" food. Covered in cheese. Not bad. For authentic Mexican, go to Maria's on the far east side on Irwin Ave, near Bay Beach, or there's a fairly new Mexican place on Shawano Ave in the old Baskin Robbins building that I hear is great.

If you're into sushi or hibachi, Nakashimi, near the stadium on Homgren is good and I've seen a lot of Packers in there. also good for sushi is Koko on the east side on Lime Kiln road near Target, and Little Tokyo, downtown on Broadway.

Also, maybe check out Fuzzy's on West Mason (near Los Banditos West) owned by Fuzzy Thurston, and he's in there quite often too. Great Green Bay landmark.

Not familiar with that place Vinnie.

Where is it?

The Tilted Kilt is also a place to check out, I really do like their food. I would say that it reminds me of a "Hooters" restaurant, except I think that Hooters has better wings and Kilt has better sandwiches.

A better bet for a good perch dinner albeit a bit of a trip down 54 to Shiocton is the River Rail. Quite a Packer bar to boot. Right on he Wolf river. A bit on the smokey side in the bar area but IMO the best spot for perch in the Fox Valley area.
