Good Show summing up what a lot of Packers fans are thinking.

Hi guys i think im your Australian listener.

My names Jack and im 18. I have supported the Packers since i was about 8. My reason for supporting them was because i saw Favre play.

Look, i understand that you are upset and admittedly selfish about favre doing well in another team, i get that. But your point that Favre twisted their arm is not correct. He offered to come back. They said that they didnt want him. So he left. You cannot be angry at a competitive man who thought he could play. Essentially what your saying is, no you cant play for us, but you better not play for any other team despite the fact that we dont want you. He has a right to play somewhere else. Be angry at Thompson and Mccarthy. Not Favre. The fact that he plays for mini should not tarnish your memories of favre. He won a superbowl with you. And i think in his heart of hearts he is a packer. What he is doing is not getting back at the packers, but getting back at Thompson.

Thanks for all of the podcasts, i love listening to them. And we finally have NFL coverage down here free to air! So i got to watch the pack-vikes game! So Exciting.

Chris and Dave,

Thanks for the therapy this week! Needed it. Was good to hear you guys were as upset as I was.

I have to say that I was happy to hear your thoughts on Favre as I agree whole heartedly with them.

Who knows what was said behind closed doors. However, BF is a grown man in charge of making his own decisions. You can't put the fact that he retired on TT. I saw the tears, and so did everyone else. Should we blame the organization for taking Favre at his words? I also heard him say he had nothing left to give, and wasn't sure he wanted to play anymore (although he said he still had the arm). Everyone forgets that. At that point, if he changed his mind, I'm sure he would still be a packer if he didn't wait until the _very_ last minute to make up his mind. Now if TT or MM really told him to take a hike at some point, I'd like to hear it. Instead all we get from Favre is what appears to be manipulation an innuendo with no proof. He may have rebuilt the house, but please don't light fire to it and burn it down on your way out....

Look, the man has a right to continue to play a game he loves, I assure you I wouldn't want to give that up if I had the ability. Where I take task with the man is holding our beloved team hostage for the last 4-5 years of his tenure.

Now I'd also like to say that I'm sure MM/TT were probably ready to move on even if Favre didn't "retire". They had a guy they liked waiting in the wings in AR. ARs contract was running out, and you simply have to find out and get some return on the investment. It was tough timing regardless of how this all went. And if you think you have a QB that is going to be good and can lead your team for the next decade well, I think it was the right move.

I guess in summary on Favre. I don't mind that he wants to keep playing, I've just lost respect for how he went about it. And that, is why I'm rooting for Favre to fail. At this point, best case scenario: Vikes make the superbowl and loose to go back into the lead with an 0-5 record in SBs.

Okay, enough on Favre...

Okay, new post since the first was entirely venting about BF...

I want to say my confidence in TT is starting to wane. I've been an ardent supporter, in part because there is a relative of mine (huge packer fan), that has basically rooting for TT to fail in part because of the Favre thing. To the point of hoping for the team to fail. That bugs me. So, although I do like TTs overall regardless, I'm sure this has had something to do with me being really really in his corner.

However, I'm starting to not have many good arguments anymore.

Grant was a desperation pickup that worked really well one year. He got a monster contract in part because of Favres pressures, and now I think its going to set the team back a bit. I do agree with Chris that even a serviceable line would help here.

You guys are totally on about the safety position. TT seems to be floundering here. Just think of the guys that have come and gone. Manuel - Bust, Smith - should've kept, Rouse - bust. Then the guys that are here. Bigby - Couldn't start for most teams, Bush - you paid what???, Collins - just okay.

Finally, OL. Like I said in a previous post, I don't want to put all this on him yet. He drafted "small" guys cause MM wanted a zone hoo haa. Sorta TTs fault in that he hired MM, and MM changed his mind. Anyway, what I take him to task for here is that he didn't use free agency to help more quickly retool the OL. I'm a firm believer that games are won and lost on the lines. If he can't address the OL quickly, he may be gone soon. One thing I'd be interested to know Chris & Dave. Does your friend Chad R. have any insight here? Is it the talent? Are they just too young? too small? not aggressive enough? Or is Campen bad?

So, I think TT is pretty good at picking up WR, CB, LB, DL (somewhat), but he needs to improve on the rest and I'd like to see FA used to get folks that are known to be solid. The team is now at a point you want to make a run at it in the next 3-4 years and we can't hope that many draft picks happen to pan out and contribute quickly.
