Maybe someone who knows more details of the innerworkings of playing football can explain why we are not using quick slants like we used to and more screens? Do we no longer play the west coast offense?

Because McCarthy thinks too highly of his ability to be unpredictable and outsmart the other guy.

I'd also like to know where the slant went.

or defenses have 16 games from last year to watch and have seemed to figure out what the packers are trying to do, and MM is trying to stay one step ahead. That would be another way to look at it

WE did not use slants last year, Forest McCarthy said Rodgers is not well suited for slants, he has other strengths.

Where is the offense play calling from 2007? How sucessful was that?

The Packers did hit on a couple of them this week.
My guess is that they're not throwing the slants because the defenses aren't giving us those plays. With keeping 6-7 guys in to block 4 pass rushers, that leaves 7 guys on defense to defend 3-4 receivers. With no running game for teams to worry about, it's probably not too difficult to take away the slants. I'm not sure we're built for screen passes.
The only thing that leaves us is throws downfield, and thankfully that's been fairly successful.
But until we force teams to blitz to get pressure and/or develope a running game, defenses are going to be successful in making us one dimensional.

There are other choices besides 50 yard go routes and quick slants. What happened to quick hooks to the TE? Or dump off passes to RB or FB in the flats? How about a screen? Down and out? Bubble screen to the WR? Lots of options.
I have no proof of this, just a possiblity. I think these routes are being called, but Rodgers is just being extra careful. It's always a fine line, but I sense this is what's going on.

Don't let your bias towards MM cloud your memory. They used the slant a lot also last year, not as much as 2007, but again if we can see it other teams know it is coming too
