Full Version: Woodsen or Harris moving to Safety?

With the release of Rouse and injury to Bigby and Collins I see no other choice for the short term than to move Harris or Wooden to safety for a few games.

I just cannot believe that we are going to face Favre in 10days with Jarret Bush and Derrick ??? (cant think of his name now) as our starting Safeties! and Giordana as the first of the bench. They will get shredded!

Move Woodsen and start Tramon seems more likely to me.

We might just see this. There was talk in the off-season of Woodson moving to safety, although he's been the lone bright spot on the team so far. I'd hate to think of changing the one thing that's working.

Favre would have to be licking his chops seeing Jared Bush back there!

On a fun note the pitcher for the Brewers Dave Bush had son born last friday. He named him Jarrett. So we now have 2 Jarrett Bush's in WI. tongue.gif

Harris and Woodson are NOT SAFETIES. End of story.

Are the Packers saying they prefer Bush over Rouse? That's ridiculous. Bush shoulda been gone.

Not sure how much this would help.

We have played most of the first 2 games in the 2-4-5 nickle formation.
It has Tramon, Harris, Woodson, Collins, and Bigby.

With Collins and Bigby hurt, it would be Tramon, Harris, Woodson, Martin and Bush.

If we move Woodson to safety, it would be Tramon, Harris, Woodson, Martin and Bush.

Bush is the last safety and also the dime back, so if we move Woodson to Safety, Bush moves up to the nickleback and sees the field as your 3rd DB instead of your 4th Safety.

Is Bush Gonna be better at CB? He will be scary where ever they play him.....

Its not quite the same... as a nickleback he'd likely be matched up against the #3 WR possibly with safety help over top... as a safety, he'd be the safety help (in theory).

Anyone else remember the Woddosn at safety experiment last year? He become almost invisible out there. Moving Woodson is a bad bad bad idea. BAD idea.

Safety under Capers is completely different than safety under Vanilla Bob.

Still, I think they'll keep him at CB unless they truly have to move him. He could definitely be a playmaker in this D at safety though.

Why would we move our most productive player in Woodson?

Put the 4 best players on the field. Is one of them really Bush or Martin?
JASIII
Harris doesn't have the build to be a safety.

This defense rarely lines up in base defense. Once they shift to any of their specialty packages, most fans would not recognize the difference between a CB and a Safety in many of the nickel and dime packages - with safety's and cornerbacks rushing or coming up to run blitz.

Listening to the frequent rants about certain players and plays, most fans clearly do not understand coverage responsibilities and scheme discipline.IMO

GoGangGreen
I would be really surprised to see them move Woodson. Williams is going to be on the field almost all the time anyway, they just need someone who won't blow responsibilties at this point. I'm hoping the new guy or Martin can fit the bill until Bigby gets back.
Big Dave
Um, this experiment failed last year, just a different scheme.

Clearly, CWood is comfortable where he's at. Plus, I don't think they make all these safety moves if Collins wasn't ready to play.
