What a disgrace of an offensive line. Rodgers looked like a punching bag ! We might as well put Lang in there, he couldn't do much worst. Jerry Kramer at 70 could block better than these morons. Campen can't straighten this mess out so he needs to go. Watch the elite teams & you see it all starts with huge offensive linemen that can block. I just saw Larry Allen in the cowboys stands ,why don't we bring him in for a tryout? Rodgers will not last another game like that . Do we have offensive linemen or matadors. The way they wave the defense by on passes they should be working at bull fights . I don't see this getting better any time soon. How about 1 of these years we sign an established offensive lineman or three? This line needs an offensive line coach screaming at them like Kevin Greene does at the linebackers .We are in for a long season.

What the heck has he done for us lately? Nothing..... mad.gif

Yes, let's all grab pitch forks and torches and storm 1265 Lombardi Avenue and toss all these bums out of town.

Everyone needs to get a grip here. Yes, we have problems. Can they be fixed? We will see. The season just started. How about we take a deep breath and exhale and see what comes. No need to give up hope yet.

I don't think that it's necessarily reactionary to want to see some of these coaches go by the wayside. . . just like it wasn't reactionary to want Bob Slowik and Bob Sanders replaced with legitimate NFL defensive coordinators. For what it's worth I don't think that Joe Philbin is an NFL caliber offensive coordinator either. I'd have liked to see the Packers add Jagodzinski to help with the OL sometime this past offseason (it's still not too late), as I think that's where he'd be at his best. I just don't like promoting guys for the sake of continuity. There's a number of talented coaches out there who could/would provide an improvement over the coaches that we have. They should take advantage of those situations when they arise.

These problems have existed for sometime now, not just one game

I don't know about Campen. Is it him, or is it the players TT has drafted for the OL? Look at MN, they drafted a 2nd round OT and he's starting at RT (Loadholt) as a rookie. TT's guys still play poorly after 3-4 years in the league. Hard to tell if it's Campen or TT (or both) at fault.

In any case, I've about had it with the "zone blocking" scheme. I miss the power plays, pulls, sweeps and screen passes.

But what is up with Jagodzinski tho? He got fired from that college and then most recently from Tampa? so you have to wonder why...

Oh yeah, there's no doubt that Jags has had a bad string of luck lately, but I don't see him as the headcase that many portray him to be. He was solid as a TE coach for us, then went on to be solid as a TE/OL coach with the Atlanta Falcons and then he came in and helped to install the zone-blocking scheme here as OC for one season (with MM calling the plays of course). He then was offered a higher paying job as head coach of a BCS football program and he went on to have decent success in his two years there. I'm not convinced that BC adequately supported him while he was there and then they wouldn't even let him interview for a job that he likely wasn't going to get. I don't think that he did anything wrong by interviewing for the New York Jets job at all. Coaches interview for other jobs all the time. . . especially if it represents a step up the proverbial ladder (which it did). For Boston College to pull an about face based on some misguided moral grounds after basically doing the same thing to the Packers two years previously (by stealing away our up-and-coming offensive coordinator) was a low-class thing IMO. BC won the stare-down and he moved onto the OC position for the Buccaneers this offseason. They brought him in to help install a zone scheme. His problem was that he's been a position coach most of his career and never learned the intricacies of playcalling. It's a difficult job and some guys just aren't cut out for it. He had opportunity to accept a demotion or a release from his contract. He took the release and he'll likely end up as an OL coach in the NFL or possibly getting another shot as an offensive coordinator at the collegiate level. I personally think that his ambition has always been greater than his talent, but that he is a very talented offensive line coach. I think that he's definitely an upgrade over James Campen, who has never impressed me.

That was very well said, Ellis. Very nice breakdown of events and analysis of the guy. Kudos.

In 'Homage to Catalonia' (1938), George Orwell had a great quote:

What purpose is served by saying that men like Maxton are in Fascist pay? Only the purpose of making serious discussion impossible. It is as though in the middle of a chess tournament one competitor should suddenly begin screaming that the other is guilty of arson or bigamy. The point that is really at issue remains untouched.

Posts like yours are why I come here - to read what the people who are actually concentrating on the chess tournament have to say, especially when they are informed.

The problem is that he's been chased by the pitchforks for three years now. In fact, that's probably the problem - he's running from guys with pitchforks and no one is coaching the line. smile.gif

Our chance to replace Campen was this off-season. Not midseason.

Let's face it though. A good OL coach can make a word of difference. See Mudd in Indy, Cable in Oakland, etc. I remember that Buffalo was getting HUGE criticism for letting Jason Peters go and dumping some bad FA OL pickups and going with a bunch of no names this season. It's working pretty well for them so far.

I don't think Campen is a difference maker and there's a track record to prove it.

It's best to wait until season's end before wanting to fire a bunch of ppl. Every team has problems, it just so happens the Packers have a big problem on their hands. If this thing doesn't get fixed and the Packers struggle, I'd be all for firing some peopl... after the season.
