Full Version: Trade thoughts?

Currently I have TJ Houshmanzadeh, Donnie Avery, Derrick Mason, and Antwaan Randel-El as my wide receivers. I'm in desperate need of more. So I got proposed this trade:

I give up: Matt Ryan and Steve Slaton
I get: Anquan Boldin and Justin Gage

Thoughts? It's looking more attractive to me by the day.

No Boldin is injury prone and already has shown he likely wont stay healthy again this year. Also Gage is nothing as a WR and in most leagues is a bench guy and also is not even on a roster in many others. After watching what Ryan did last week you must keep him. Also Slaton is a starter so you keep him too. This trade would defentially come out in favor of the other guy by far.

You're right, you're right. I need to calm down and not let Turner, Gonzalez, and Slaton's performance rattle me.

Although I did propose two trades last night. In both I offer Matt Ryan and Steve Slaton (I have Tom Brady, so not overly concerned about the QB).

One is for Reggie Wayne and Knowshon Moreno. The other is for Steve Smith and Ryan Grant.

yes.. far too often people overreact, especially early in the season, when players don't do well right off the bat. (myself included in past seasons).. But this year i'm going to wait until at least week 3 to make any moves to my starters. (unless there is a trade offer that seems like it would be in my favor)

As far as your trade.. I wouldn't do it. Hoosh has to be a starter. And Mason was a 1000 yard wr last season. So i woulnd't give up on him just yet.

Alright, I haven't made any drastic moves yet. I did pick up Steve Smith (NY) as a free agent on Saturday night and started him: smart move. So I'm not dying for a wide receiver. But still I'm in an enviable position with Tom Brady and Matt Ryan as my QBs.

So what about Matt Ryan for Anquan Boldin straight up? Boldin had eight catches last week. I've shopped him around a bit and I think this is the best deal I'm going to get in this league. I really am just unfamiliar with Boldin and what to expect from him when it comes to fantasy value.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to dump Ryan if I was in this situation. His bye week is #4, and Brady's is wk 8... don't make a move until after week 8.

IF you're still in dire need of scoring then I'd dangle Ryan, but who knows if Brady will last that long (with his line letting him get hit as much as AR).

Good pick-up of Smith (NYG)... he's gotten Eli's confidence and should give you solid points (while maybe not spectacular some weeks). Keep searching the waivers for better depth and I think you'll be OK. I wouldn't pull a major trade for Boldin, as he's still somewhat wounded and AZ isn't clicking on all cylinders. If you can steal him, great, but don't give-up too much.
