Full Version: Lovie on Cutler: "He represents our organization well."

Lovie gave that quote when responding to criticism of Cutler by other coaches.

I think it's the funniest thing I've heard in a while...just the thought of an @$$ like him being a reflection and representation of the entire organization...as if it's supposed to be a good thing.

I still think Cutler is a good QB. IMO he will get better as the year goes by.

It is ironic.

You can't blame Lovie for being diplomatic and professional though. Unlike his QB in the press conference. If he had publicly called him out for being the whiny little b1tch that he was, he'd probably demand a trade.

He is a good QB. I think eire was thinking more about his character, or at least his public persona.

I agree. A crybaby represents the Bears organization extremely well.

In fairness, I found nothing wrong with the excerpts from his press conference. I would have posted this earlier, but I lost my sound temporary (dog activity in amongst the chaos of wires):

Cutler should be considered a good QB. I don't believe that he will ever be a QB that leads a team or is the reason that a team wins consistently. Good, but very overrated and definitely a diva.
Jeremy
Can't say I disagree with him.

4 ints. per game should elimimate the Bears quickly in th North quite quickly. Only kidding at part. He's a good passer, but with that team, very average.

I was saying it all offseason. Who is he going to throw to? The Bears could be a good team if they were able to land a quality #1 WR within the next 1-2 years. Their window is closing rapidly. The defense is still very solid but it certainly is aging. Urlacher will be out the whole year and will be 32 by the time he starts his next game. I think Angelo really screwed up not picking up a quality WR. There were a few them available. Toomer and Holt would have been excellent pickups. Our DBs looked like men among boys out there. Those Bears WRs looked pathetic out there. Knox caught Woodson off guard on one play but other than that, our DBs pretty much dominated those WRs the whole game. Devin Hester looks like he's starting to turn the corner but he is still a far cry from a legit #1 WR. He is simply a big play guy that isn't reliable enough as a pure #1 wideout.

How fitting that a jackass like Jay Cutler has made an early connection with Johnny Knox...

Cutler should grow a beard....or better yet (since he probably cant grow one)...he should wear one of those fake beards - the lumberjack style - to conceal that baby face and divert attention from those "I'm just about to cry" eyes. He's a puss.

Not a bad idea. His facial expressions do nothing to conceal his sensitivity and insecurity. He doesn't have the look of a guy who is mentally tough.

Maybe that is what McDaniels noticed and why he was looking for somebody to replace Cutler. There were times last year in Denver that it appeared that Cutler just simply didn't care. The media in Denver was criticizing him about this well before the end of the year. Its continued in Chicago so its not just the tough Chicago media. He's got all the talent in the world but it remains to be seen if he can develop the maturity and leadership required to be an elite NFL QB. Talent alone isn't enough. When you really think about it, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady aren't the most talented QBs in the NFL but they are the best. So much of being an NFL QB is mental. Although statistically Denver's offense produced a lot of yards it wasn't really all that impressive last year. They didn't score enough points and Cutler made terrible mistakes in the red zone. He also threw quite a few bad picks in Broncos territory as well as some that were returned for TDs. I think part of the Broncos abysmal defensive rankings were due to Cutler's tendency to turn over the ball. Sunday's game was very similar to many Broncos games last year. Lots of yardage but not enough points due to turnovers and poor red zone execution. Rodgers is an absolute stud in the red zone. Cutler not so much.

In his PC after the game Sunday night Cutler said all the right things. But his demeaner and body language said something else. He spoke in a monotone voice like it was scripted. He was figidity and looked extremely uncomfortable on that podium. I'm sure he was embarrassed by his performance for all the world to see. It will be interesting to see if he's grown up any and plays better against Pitt. But I'm betting he'll implode again against a D that has the 3-4 down a h3ll of lot better than we did the first week of the season. Then there'll be blood in the water.

Yes Cutler is a good QB, though Cutler is not smart enough to be a great NFL QB. He may show flashes of greatness but will have melt downs that will prevent the Bears from ever going deep into the playoffs while he is their QB.

As the Bears will find out after a few years with this guy at QB.

You remind me of Woody Allen, trying to scare a lobster into running out from behind the refrigerator by showing him a dish of butter sauce.

JR? Oh man, that really dates you! You probably remember roller skate keys too.

I've got a bran' new pair of roller skates, you've got a bran' new key...
