What a joke! If any defender would of him him at the knees he would of got fined a heck of alot more than 10k. Favre knows this to, being a QB he knows whats legal and whats not that can be done to him or what he can do to any other player. His true colors are shining bright now.

"Eugene went back out on the field after the game, hoping Favre would come up to him and apologize and express some concern, and that didn't happen," Sims said. "Eugene then was hoping Favre would send him an apology through some sort of correspondence, but that hasn't happened, either. Eugene is still hopeful Favre will apologize to him."
I'd like to see signs at stadiums "Apologize, Brett!"

Brett should apologize but I don't think he was dirty with that block. Stupid, yes. Dirty? No. And I'm glad he got fined. That sends a message that even a high profile player like BF will be fined for that type of play.

If Favre had done this during his tenure with the Packers, would you feel the same? I still think Warren Sapp's hit on Clifton was a cheap shot. The league didn't agree. I would think most Tampa fans wouldn't even remember that hit. I'll always, maintain that it was a cheap shot, designed to get revenge for an LT who prevented Sapp from getting to Favre.

The conclusion I've come to regarding Brett Favre is that he isn't an inherently bad person, but he views everything from a selfish point of view. It wouldn't occur to him to apologize because Eugene Wilson is not Brett Favre. He doesn't consider how his actions affect others.

I think Favre should be punished by having to go spend time with the Vikings.
Oh wait...

Favre isn't going to be suspended for a first time offender.

The league did agree. They made a rule the following year out of it I thought.
I would still feel the same if he were on our team- that he should apologize and that it was an ugly display, a bad showing by a Packer. If someone did that to Favre the league would be in uproar. "OMG don't touch the QB!"

I still don't think it was a dirty play. BF used to block like that in GB on reverses. But that block is illegal from where he was in the formation. Yes, he should've known better so yes, it was a stupid play. I have a feeling MN won't be putting BF out there like that again anyway...

Maybe he has Favre working on stock-blocking right now.

If we were to compile a list of dirty cheap blocks over the last NFL season and this preseason, Favre's probably wouldn't make it. So do I see that play as being cheap and or dirty, no.
Stupid yes.
I think Favre should send him a personal apology, but he did express concern via his conference after the game.

Perhaps the NFL should designate a day....say Tuesday following any given weeks games as "Official apology day".
Those who voice true remorse receive a lighter financial penalty...if any.
Those who think "football is football" and remain steadfastly silent...will suffer the consequences.

I have a hard time believing that they would put Favre in that position in a meaningless preseason game with sore ribs only to not run those types of plays in the regular season.

I like it. But of course the way an apology goes now is: I'm sorry if my actions offended you. Which of course is not apologizing at all.

No, but it's courtesy.
I mean, really, everyone here who willingly and voluntarily apologizes profusely, with genuine remorse and regret, when you didn't think you did anything wrong please raise your hands.
