Interesting article from Mike Tanier about our week one opponents and division rivals. For all that this site's hype brigade likes to dismiss the Cutler signing, Tanier points out the ways in which it represents an upgrade: reading the defense and making adjustments.

With their versatile tight ends and running back, the Bears' offense poses an unusual problem. It will be fascinating to see how Ron Turner uses these weapons to attack the 3-4, and how Dom Capers responds. For the past few years, this matchup has mostly been decided by the Pack's success/failure on offense against the Bears' D. After both team's offseason upheavals, that might be about to change. Can't wait for Week One.

Wow, excellent article. Thanks for posting it.

In the last couple years, our defense has been victimized by #2 Receivers, Tight Ends and Running Backs. That could be a reason for caution against the Bears - they have a great TE/RB combo. It'll be interesting to see if we've managed to patch up those weaknesses with our new defense.

The first Packer game they decided to put their corner backs on Olsen and they won like 35-3. I think this game they will try to do the same thing.
