Full Version: Kevin O'Connell

Should the Packers have any interest in adding the former Patriots 3rd round pick. He's a big kid with good mobility. I remember liking him very much in last year's draft process. There was no doubt that he was raw, but he seemed to have that "it" factor that good leaders have. I'm not sure why he didn't stick in New England, but they cut him and Detroit picked him up off of waivers.

I hate the idea of dealing with a rival team, but if it means adding a talented young QB prospect then I'd be all for seeing a deal happen. This team is loaded and will be cutting or trading good players. Should the Packers try to send one of those players to Detroit in exchange for Kevin O'Connell?

I say "yes" as long as it's not one of our starting players. Tony Moll, John Kuhn and possibly others might have enough value for a player-for-player swap. I could live with something like that.

I know nothing about this guy, but Schefter is reporting that we might snatch him up if he makes it past Oakland on waivers.

Detroit already claimed him.

I mentioned that Detroit claimed him. There's speculation that they made the claim to try and get something for him without having to pay anything to get him. Something for nothing. My question was whether anyone liked him enough to think that it would be worth making a trade with Detroit to get him.

This team has an abundance of talent at some spots (OL, FB, RB, LB and DB IMO) and some glaring weaknesses in other areas (QB, TE and DL again IMO). I could see us trading a bubble player from one of those spots or a conditional pick to add O'Connell to the compete with Brohm and Flynn. I liked Kevin better than both those guys in the draft, and I sure wouldn't mind seeing him in Green Bay. I think they stick with the guys they have though. At least Brohm seems to be playing a little bit better lately.

He is not an upgrade over Flynn and Brohm, so no.

At this point in the season, with only 1 preseason game to go, I don't see anybody coming in that would help the backup position. In the offseason, yes. But now we have 2 guys that have been in the system for 2 years.
