You know, I don't much like a lot that Favre has done and I certainly don't like all the game playing he did only to end up on the Vikings. But I'm beginning to care even less for what Packer fans are doing in these threads. After all, I don't spend any time with Favre, but I do spend some time in the company of people here. And this petty non-stop bashing of the guy, the parsing of every word he utters to find another excuse to hurl derision and contempt at him is quite distasteful. This obsessive resentment is not good for anyone, least of all those who partake in it so enthusiastically. And it's just the flip-side of hero worship. God knows what they say about falling off pedestals is true.
Actually, going by the highlights and stats, he played very well last night. That's a dangerous team and I'd be careful about being too glib about how our new 3-4 defense is going to shred them. I personally think a more rational discussion about the Vikings would be in order. No doubt we'll be able to score on them, but they also might be able to score equally well on us. I'd like nothing more than to overwhelm that team, just like everyone else here - but we need to realize that things could very well go a different way and it could lead to a lot of frustration for us. I don't think the Packers can take the Vikings (or the Bears for that matter) for granted. As some have said in other threads, this could well turn out to be a very dangerous division this year - and one that is highly competitive within.
Sure, I'd like to see Favre fall on his face playing us, but not because I wish for bad things to happen to him or because I'll take some pleasure from his misery. My only reason for anything of the kind is so that we beat the Vikings and we beat them handily. My eye is on the playoffs, not on Brett Favre.
Well said. It is getting tiresome that every thread about Aaron Rodgers needs to have a comparison/bash with Brett Favre. Can't it just be about Rodgers? He has had a good enough preseason to talk about him - not the guy who used to be here...
I also agree that this could be a very tough division this year. The days may be in the past when the NFC North was an easy division. The Bears are an improved team with Cutler. The Vikings are an improved team with Favre. But, IMO, the Packers still have the best QB in the division - look like they have the most potent offense - and the new defensive scheme is looking like it is playing to our players' strengths. I am optimistic for the Packers this year - could easily see them finishing between 10-6 and 12-4... but it may not be an easy division to win this year.

You can disagree with the sentiments, but we don't need your patronization allegedly for the sake of our own "welfare." We're adults - we can worry about our own welfare, thanks.

Where is the patronization? Perhaps you are inferring it yourself?
