ESPN text report said Favre told MNF crew that he may have cracked rib
pkrjones
DOh! This seen, just after I predicted (in Favre getting booed thread) that Favre wouldn't remain healthy until 11/01. This could just be BF setting-up another excuse for IF things go wrong in Minny.
sinatra
He sure is setting up the excuses, isn't he?
Skyshadow
Bad rotator cuff, cracked ribs, down a tendon in his throwing arm... Dude should have stayed on his lawn tractor.

That's my initial thought. If the season doesnt start well he can play the injury card and retire yet again.

That's EXACTLY what he's doing. That goes hand-in-hand with his earlier quote about if he moves the offense up and down the field for touchdowns tonight that he will "probably be the most surprised person in the building.”
GoGangGreen
Sooooo....is he going to play tonight? I'm no doctor, but wouldn't that be something that could worsen/break if he took another hit there? I assume he got this from the hit he took in KC? Why didn't he say something sooner? Too weird.
LuvdaPack36
This is sad news.

Not sure if Favre has been banned here, but he thinks his rib is cracked.

Dude is that intentional on your part to have MM from your Profile icon looking on at the Favre hit and smiling? If so, that's awesome. If not, it's still awesome. laugh.gif

I don't get the 'playing with no extra padding' part. The damage is already done? How about a punctured lung, buddy?

My favorite clip of the season so far.

That is a very bizzare quote by Favre. Is he gone so nuts that he actually props himself up as IRON man Mr Man. Your right how about doing further damage to a internal organ. How aloof has he become?

He's just tempting fate.

I am going to watch the game tonight to see how he does though.

yeah thats smart to say right before a game. It is not going to make the defensive player to drill you in the ribs or drive you into the ground with all his weight falling on you.

You know, I don't much like a lot that Favre has done and I certainly don't like all the game playing he did only to end up on the Vikings. But I'm beginning to care even less for what Packer fans are doing in these threads. After all, I don't spend any time with Favre, but I do spend some time in the company of people here. And this petty non-stop bashing of the guy, the parsing of every word he utters to find another excuse to hurl derision and contempt at him is quite distasteful. This obsessive resentment is not good for anyone, least of all those who partake in it so enthusiastically. And it's just the flip-side of hero worship. God knows what they say about falling off pedestals is true.

Actually, going by the highlights and stats, he played very well last night. That's a dangerous team and I'd be careful about being too glib about how our new 3-4 defense is going to shred them. I personally think a more rational discussion about the Vikings would be in order. No doubt we'll be able to score on them, but they also might be able to score equally well on us. I'd like nothing more than to overwhelm that team, just like everyone else here - but we need to realize that things could very well go a different way and it could lead to a lot of frustration for us. I don't think the Packers can take the Vikings (or the Bears for that matter) for granted. As some have said in other threads, this could well turn out to be a very dangerous division this year - and one that is highly competitive within.

Sure, I'd like to see Favre fall on his face playing us, but not because I wish for bad things to happen to him or because I'll take some pleasure from his misery. My only reason for anything of the kind is so that we beat the Vikings and we beat them handily. My eye is on the playoffs, not on Brett Favre.

You can disagree with the sentiments, but we don't need your patronization allegedly for the sake of our own "welfare." We're adults - we can worry about our own welfare, thanks.

He played well. Very well was what Rodgers did the past 3 games. Favre made mostly good decisions with his passes, not forcing much and letting the WR and RB's make the most of their touches. Of the yardage stats, I'd wager that 50% of it was YAC. Not that it is bad, but it wasn't like he was hitting WR's 20 yards downfield. He was just doing it West Coast offense, style...

That discussion was happening over in the Monday Night Favre thread. All in all, they looked like a decent team with some weapons, but in pre-season form and without much swagger.

Well said. It is getting tiresome that every thread about Aaron Rodgers needs to have a comparison/bash with Brett Favre. Can't it just be about Rodgers? He has had a good enough preseason to talk about him - not the guy who used to be here...

I also agree that this could be a very tough division this year. The days may be in the past when the NFC North was an easy division. The Bears are an improved team with Cutler. The Vikings are an improved team with Favre. But, IMO, the Packers still have the best QB in the division - look like they have the most potent offense - and the new defensive scheme is looking like it is playing to our players' strengths. I am optimistic for the Packers this year - could easily see them finishing between 10-6 and 12-4... but it may not be an easy division to win this year.

This is a "Favre Injured" thread .
How do you figure it is a Rodgers thread??

If people want to bash Favre and you don't like it,
don't read it but don't tell others what to do.
As long as it's within the posting guidelines,
it doesn't have to meet every single persons standards.

Go Pack!!

I was referring to other threads on this board... not this one.

Example: Link It didn't take long for this thread to start comparing them - and it could have stood alone as - "Wow! Look at what Rodgers did!"
