You show up to a game wearing a Favre VIKING jersey? I saw maybe half a dozen or so people wearing them. Some had packer hats on also. How can you go to a Packer game wearing a Favre Viking jersey and still claim to be a Packer fan? To me those are Favre fans and should not claim to be Packer fans as they where never a real Packer fan and I would not want those people claiming to be Packer fans.

I can see wearing a Favre Packer jersey, but not a Viking jersey. Ever.

There is obviously a fairly measurable percentage of "fans" who follow a product, an idea, and in many instances, a player.
They say they follow the Packers, but just for safe keeping, they decide that they're going to follow Brett around everywhere he goes as a pathetic "out". In other words, if the Packers have a down season, they say "well, I can still cheer for Brett..." and so on. They're attention span is that of a toddler, and for them it's all about the bandwagon, and following around one player where ever he goes because he's their "hero," or they simply follow multiple players on different teams so they can have a better chance of saying they're fans of a winning team.
They are so far off base, have little love for the actual game, that for them it's all about themselves. So, in reality, hell no, they're not real fans of the Packers, they don't even know what that means.
And it's obvious there's a big chunk of people who have always just liked Brett. It was never really about football for them, they were on Brett's side and everything he thinks, they think. It's disgusting.

I see your point and in a way, I agree with it. But.....
I know an older couple that show up to every Packer home game with the husband wearing a Viking jacket and she in a Packer jacket. He supports the Packers and his wife, but his first love is the team he grew up with.
Why do we need to question or catagorize fans as to their loyalty?
Favre had a huge following around the NFL and he will continue to do so no matter what team he plays for. I will never, ever, buy a Viking jersey, but I will not burn my Favre jersey either. Hopefully, at the end of this year, he will be retired for good and all this nonsense will end.

Some people are just fans of Brett Favre. Sucks he's gone and sucks even more he's a Vike, but they still cheer him. Maybe you don't agree with it, but not everybody follows a sport/team to your standards. Deal with it I guess, i try to not let it bother me (even though it's the ugliest jersey EVER).

They did it to get a rise out of you all. They knew GBP4EVER would go off on them, thus getting 15 minutes of Fame.
I'll keep and wear my #4 Packer jersey, but I'm alergic to purple and white.

Huh? What was wrong with his post?
Just seemed like an attempt to rationalize it...
My sister, for example, is married to a Vikings' fan - so if they went to a game - I could easily see her wearing a Packers jersey and him wearing a Vikings jersey. Although I have heard that she has forbidden him from buying a Favre Viking jersey...

If I recall correctly, GBP4EVER also had a problem with people wearing Jets Favre jerseys to games. I can understand, to an extent, continuing to show your support when he is on a team like the Jets... I have a little harder time understanding it when he is with the Vikings. I, myself, would NEVER don one of those purple nightmares...

I guess you can put me in the camp that has a hard time with "Packer fans" who would wear a jersey of another team no matter WHOSE name and # is on it, especially from a divisional rival. Folks who wear a #4 Viking jersey are fans of that particular player and not of the team that made him famous and a millionaire many times over. If they want to wear that hideous jersey I don't really care. But I wouldn't be caught dead in a Viking, Bear or Lion jersey.

I'll go with the assumption that those wearing the purple 4 jerseys were viking fans that go to games with packer fans. My wife would do that to me except I explain to her that her safety might be compromised if the wrong team is losing.

In general I think these people are just not very bright. They're casual fans who don't really understand the concept of a sports rivalry.
Or as others have said, they're just trying to get their mugs on TV.

If your going to a Packer game with your wife/gf/bf/husband and he or she is a fan of the other team I have no problem with them wearing their team colors. But if you come to GB wearing a Packer hat and then have a Favre Viking jersey on then I will call you a bandwagon fan. IMO you do not wear another teams jersey while claiming to be a fan of that team. Lets say in 5 years AP would become a Packer do you think Vikings fans would like seeing other so called Viking fans wearing his Packer jesery to Viking games?

I guess it comes down to whether a packer fan can be a favre fan. Favre fans are wearing his viking jersey, which I think is ridiculous. They are putting Brett before the team, so they aren't true Packer fans like I know.

If you're wearing a Vikings' #4, you're not a Packer fan. You're a Favre fan that followed the Packers because he was here. Now that he's in Minnesota, you're a Vikings fan.

Well, he did play here for 16 years, so.......... I can see where people might be a little attached to the guy. He represented the Green and Gold far more than he'll ever the Vikings or Jets.
I personally have no real attachment anymore, but I can see how some people are still Favre fans and Packer fans at the same time. I guess the conundrum is when they play each other...

Now there's a blast from the past! Shame she kept getting banned. She was certainly well ahead of her time in Favre-bashing.
As for Jersey-gate, I have no problem with anyone wearing their Favre Packer jersey. You have to consider that jerseys are expensive and a lot of people just may not have another. Wearing it on game day may be like wearing a favorite pair of jeans etc. If it's their favorite piece of Packer gear, what can you do. No big deal.
The Favre Jets/ Vikings jerseys... that's a big no no. The team colors come first - a packer jersey is still a Packer jersey and a Vikes jersey is a Vikes jersey, regardless of the name. You wear it, you're saying that you're a fan of the team first.

Well put, rpiotr.
I could understand if someone would show up to the Packer-Vikings game wearing a #4 Vikings jersey, but he better be cheering for the Vikings. Likewise, I could understand someone would show up at the same game wearing a #4 Packers jersey, but he better be cheering for the Packers. I could even understand if someone said that they'll follow Favre, but they still like the Packers. But if you show up to Lambeau wearing a Vikings jersey when they're not playing the Vikings, regardless of the number, #1 - you're an idiot, #2 - you better be cheering against the packers because thats what Vikings fans do, #3 - if you're cheering for the packers, you should be locked up in a mental institution because you clearly care more about creating controversy and getting attention than you care about the Packers.

Yep, that's what happens to people ahead of their time. They feel ostracized, they get edgy, defensive, paranoid (for good reason), and generally manage to get themselves locked up (or banned), unless they have extraordinary Gandhi-like strength of character. I always think of Cassandra.
I agree with you. I don't care what they wear, but it sure doesn't make much sense to wear the colours of an opponent when purporting to root for a team. Better then to wear no colours at all. I'd say, just buy a #4 and glue it onto a cheap sweatshirt, LOL.
