No suprise to me. I knew he just didn't want to sleep in a dorm and do training camp.

Packer DB's, keep working on your interception skills. I want to win BOTH games against the Vikings!

Does anyone have an extra ticket for the Vikings @ Lambeau game? laugh.gif

The entertainment value of the Packers vs. Vikings games is going to be sky high.

These are practically going to be playoff calibur excitement games now! Woohoo!

Brett Favre has officially proven why TT had to move on.

October 5 and Nov 1 are going to be some nasty games. From looking at the little bit of blitzing that Dom did the other night, you can almost bank it that Dom will send the kitchen sink to see how mobile Favre is. This could get ugly quick.

I hope it gets real nasty.

You know damn well the Vikings are going to have their offense introduced at Lambeau. I think the most interesting thing about this whole thing will be the reaction Favre gets from the crowd when he is introduced.

I disagree. At 40, missing all OTA's, 1/2 of training camp, not hiring a personal trainer, and "working out" by throwing to HS kids, he's going to enter his 19th season in the NFL. He is not what he once was and it showed last year. I don't expect him to make it through 16 games this season.

he is better than who they currently have. I dont think missing the OTA's will have that much of an impact. Guess is he as had the playbook for sometime now and he is familiar with the system. I agree he is not what he was but I also think the arm injury last year took its toll. IF he is healthy he is better than Sage or TJ

Exactly. If the rumor is true, then we will have some pretty heated Packer/Viking games. As if the rivalry wasn't "heated" enough! smile.gif

I usually just lurk around this forum and enjoy the information. I suppose this is as a good time as any to start posting.

Being a WI transplant into MS (Farve Country) I am really having some mixed emotions now that its all but a for sure thing. The locals around here are going crazy. It was nice when i moved down here to be around so many Packer fans. Low and behold these same fans became Jet fans last year, and now I am sure I will be in a sea of purple if I go to my local watering hole to watch a game. I guess every reason to get the NFL ticket and stay home. Pack vs. Vikings Monday night game may be the most watched game besides the Super Bowl this year.

I guess all PACKER NEWs takes a back seat to this (impending) Favre signing.

Good, it will keep THE PACKERS under the radar.

Just some thoughts that make me go hmmmmmmmmm ( An Old Arsenio Hall Favorite Part)

1. Since there has been reports on Brett's atitude in the locker room ( Not stating it as fact, RUMOR have you) Some of the D players will they want to get some of old Brett even more so then the normal queen QB...

2. I recall seeing MM take a death grip on the Podium last year when it was Brought up on Brett playing for the Vikings... I wonder how mad or upset he is, and how he will get the team ready for the game.. ( I am only implying that it appeard MM was not too pleased about Brett Playing or wanting to Play for the Queens Last year and he only avoided the discussion and basically no comment)

3. How will the fans re-act , will Brett be Booed at Lambeau for the first time in 17 years...It will be very interesting as how this has all played out over the years...

4. If Booed, how does Brett handle it ... I am assuming this will be something he has not ever faced anywhere in the NFL , I have been to at least 10-12 games in the NFL with the Packers and in all of those games he was one Packer the opponnents fans actually gave a cheer and applause for when teams were introduced.

Just some tidbits of Thoughts...

Good post! Welcome to the zoo! smile.gif

I am not mixed in my emotions, at all. I do not like to see Favre go to the Vikings but I also am not about to get all bent out of shape if he does. I will tune in, root for the Packers and hope we win.... and win the division and this will all be a footnote in history. But I have say, this is rather amusing and I understand that people will root for Favre, no matter what.

Most importantly, I just want us to win football games and reach the level of elite teams. We are a better team without Brett, at this point, and let's hope Rodgers can carry the torch.

If the Vikings thump us twice and Brett brings home another Super Bowl trophy, then it will be a tough year and the Packers have themselves, and only themselves to blame. Afterall, he could still be our QB.

Couldn't agree more, I thought the same thing, this will have the feel of a Superbowl game for both teams. I thought when all of the news would eventually come true I would be more PO'd but I actually find myself SOO excited for this game. I am of mixed emotions. I hated the primadonna stuff he has pulled in the last few years, that said he has had a rough go of it. Any decision he has made (and consequently gone back on) is because of timelines he felt were unrealistic. When forced to make a call, he walks away. When he has time to think and the waters quieten down he realizes he wants to play again. I think its unfair for him to miss a large portion of training camp, but if I were him maybe I would want that too. If I could get away with it, why wouldn't I?

I want to make it clear I am disappointed that he has chosen this team of all the teams to play for. In regards to his loyalty to Packer fans. I guess I really don't have to be loyal to rooting for him now either, so his disloyalty to Packer fans will also do a 180 (by most) and I hope he understands that.

He's become a bum. I've never wished the Vikings well, so regardless of past associations, I dont wish him well either. Best he be quick and hand the ball off to AP cause a seasons worth of pass rushes on artificual turf will have him running...or evading as fast as he's possible.

Oh well.
Heatseeker
Would it be possible, given the right seeding for the Pack and Vikes to meet in the NFC Championship game? If so, I only have one wish this year... That may very well beat the Super Bowl in ratings right there...

this is funny, just the other day i was thinking to myself "wow, this is going to be weird watching an NFL season with out Brett Favre..." hmmmm wink.gif

Going back to a week before training camp, when Favre was going back and forth 'to play or not to play' I was gonna be real pissed if he did sign with the Vikings. Now that things have cooled down, I'm pretty excited. My emotions are out of the whole Favre/Pack thing and i'm just looking for a good game now.

Will I boo Favre? Time will tell...

As for the whole situation, time has sort of healed those old wounds.

Yes. If one team wins the division and one team wins the wild card, they could meet in the playoffs. There's a number of combinations that would make this possible, but as long as they both make the playoffs (one wins the division, other claims a wild card spot), then they have the potential to play eachother.

Example: Ravens and Steelers played eachother last year for the AFC Championship. Steelers entered the playoffs as the #2 AFC seed (2nd best overall record in the AFC) and the Ravens came in as the #5 AFC seed (the #1 wild card spot - best AFC record of non-division winning teams).

Thirded. Favre is nothing but a self-centered, media starved, liar. He has gone far beyond "changing his mind" territory. The man is now a proven liar and he planned to play for the Vikings the day he announced his retirement from the Green Bay Packers. Anyone who does not see this by is just naive.

Kudos to Ted Thompson for standing up to Favre's constant flip-flopping. His bashers no longer have a leg to stand on.

Every dog has his day...

I'm fine with that. He's a lying, disloyal, self-centered, thankless dirtbag. And his family feeds right into it. I'm not overly concerned with the welfare of that poor multi-millionaire family. They'll be just fine.

Oh, c'mon! Really? I look at it like this:

Your company fires you because they feel an intern can do your job the same if not better. Rather than retire, you feel you still have something left. Your company's rival ask you do join their staff with an increased pay and to do the exact same job. You're telling me you wouldn't accept with the added bonus to stick it to your formal employer? This is business! Favre wants to stick it to Ted and just can't let the game go. It's ashame the media creates too much hype that's required over this matter, but simply put -- Favre is back.

One thing's for sure -- the season became a lot more interesting!!!

And that's my problem with him. I was okay with the waffling, and I was okay with his decision to unretire and keep playing. The thing that got me was his deadset determination on going to the Packers' biggest archrival just to stick it to the organization, heedless of all the fans that cheered for him for almost two decades.

There's 28 teams in the NFL that don't play in the NFC North. Yet he goes to the Vikings. And it's not like he just wandered into this situation with the Vikings - he's been actively pursuing it for two years now. It's been his consuming passion. Dirtbag.
