Full Version: As the QB Turns

Just when you thought Brett Favre leaves Childress and the Vikings sobbing at the alter was the big news coming out of Mankato...

QB Tarvaris Jackson left the field on Saturday morning with an apparent leg injury. Jackson was injured during a team scrimmage when defensive lineman LeTroy Guion fell at his feet and rolled over his leg. Jackson crumbled to the field in pain as trainers rushed to his side - leaving the Nat'l Press who had gathered to watch the #4 Saga unfold having to endure watching Sage Rosenfels throw cream puff passes...

Meanwhile, last Wednesday, former Bear and current Viking WR Bobbie Wade told KFAN Radio that Bears star linebacker Brian Urlacher used a derogatory term to describe new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. "Pretty much," Wade said, "[Urlacher] said Jay Cutler was a [bleep] for the most part."

I loved Souhan's quote: "Cutler begged his way out of Denver when he felt new coach Josh McDaniels was too unwilling to administer total-body massages to his All-Universe quarterback. Since arriving in Chicago, Cutler has been spotted at more bars than Captain Morgan."

Ah yes, isn't it nice to be flying under the radar while MN and Chicago play out the newest Sports Soap Opera "As the QB Turns?"

Well this was us last year — but, as it turned out, QB was the least of our worries. Who knows how the soap opera will play out in Chicago and Minnesota (and soon Detroit)? One thing is for sure: if Cutler plays well on the opening Sunday night, all of this will be forgotten faster than you can say "Kitrick Taylor".

For 2009, not a single NFC North team has a proven QB. Rodgers is probably the safest bet, but let's not forget that Scott Mitchell once had a lights-out season too. The division looks to be wide open this year.

Which Scott Mitchell are you referring to? The one, while in Miami that could not keep healthy? Or the up and down QB in Detroit? Either way, Mitchell was over rated and did not have any coaching in Detroit, at all.

I disagree with Rodgers not being proven. He is more proven than most of the starting QBs in the NFL. He was brought along, has all of the ability needed and the leadership continues to develop. As to the soap opera here in GB, it had nothing to do with 2008 starting QB, only that the previous year's starting QB. Rodgers was appointed to be GB starting QB. He was not proven in 2008, I would argue he has proven to be a solid starting QB. He has not proven to be an all-pro or legend or all term QB, yet. The signs are there and GB has a QB system that is working quite nicely. The other three teams cannot say they have a QB system or have any resemblance to a system. Cutler is the closest to Rodgers in ability, but he is learning a new system, the Chicago system for QB and offense is not very good. In Minny and Detroit, they have QB that not not proven or old and inconsistent and their QB and offense is poor. Minny makes up for it with a strong running game.

According to PFT its a sprained MCL and he is probably day to day

I have to feel that AR has established himself as a proven nfl starter. Anyone that can throw for over 4000 yds on a 6-10 team has shown he's not just a product of the system or blind luck.

Lets hope the media drama gets under the skin of the vikings and bears.
