Ok, so I am not a big Favre fan and do not hate him either. When I look at what has happened over the past year and a half I wonder if was it actually good for the team.

Pros:
-GB got s third round draft pick and nearly a second for what was a retired player. (Basically something for nothing)
-So will have to see what happens during the season, but IMO it is fair to say #4 did as much as possible to torpedo last years division champs. My guess it that the Queens will not only not have a better QB in Favre to lead them, but all the back and forth and erosion of faith in their existing QB's will result in additional loses this season than if they had not pursued him at all.

Cons:
-Hard to argue that to some degree he did not torpedo GB last season with his antics. AR did fine, but the team just did not seem the same after essentially being on Favre watch all last season.

Just as a side, while last season the team sucked in part to #4 it did get GB some higher draft picks. If GB really was a better team than its record last year than the high draft picks this year could go a long way in GB making a serious push this year.

Brett Favre did not take one snap from center last year for GB nor did he play defense or special team. He had nothing to do with why the team struggled last year. If it was a distraction then the players and coaches did not do there job, they are professional athletes and are paid to win games not worry about a QB in the Meadowlands

I would like to agree with that theory, but life and football seasons do not exist in a vacuum... The question really is about what has happened, not what should have happened....

I will go back to last season when myself and a few other posters, stated AR did not have his defining moment! More often than not AR threw an intereption in a two minute drill, rather than a Touchdown. I'm pleased with ARs play, and this was only his first season as a starter. I expect bigger things from AR in the future and this season will be filled with defining moments.
Brett Favre had hundreds of defining moments, he was like the Bring em Back Brett for many many seasons. To blame the poor play of the defense on Brett and the teams 6-10 record on Brett is really grasping at straws there.
