This will be a nice test of Chilly's leadership. He now gets the unenvyable task of trying to rally the troops around the gruesome twosome of Sage and Tavaris.
Well, I was dead wrong. I thought he was just milking it. And maybe he's still angling to get out of camp and will show up in a couple weeks. But I'm happy to not have to see him in purple (assuming it sticks).

Though I think it would be hard for Favre to come back now because he would lose any credibility and respect (accept from his ESPN lap dogs) and I think many of his Viking teammates would not want him and would line up to give gang style beat in for being played like that.

Favre sticks it to the Vikes one more time!!!
I for one, am glad. I kind of wanted to see him come back just for the sheer, "Must see TV" factor, but deep down, I'm glad he only gave it one year with the Jets.
I recently moved into a condo and am turning my office into a quasi-man cave of sorts and I have a Sports Illustrated (his retirement edition) framed. I just couldn't bring myself to hang it up though until I knew what was going to happen. Now, I feel ok doing it.

I am surprised that he stayed retired. When he decided to play before the 2007 season the Friday before the Super Bowl, he allowed himself plenty of time to work out with a personal trainer to get his body in shape for that upcoming season. The results were he had a good year.
The last 2 years he has decided in June or end of May to come back to play without working on his core body and his legs. You can't wait to work out for the NFL season in May, June or July when you are pushing 38- 40 years old. He has never learned that. The older you get the more you have to work out to stay in football shape.

Ok now the hatred of Favre will have have to be turned elsewhere, maybe we can respect one of the greatest players of all time instead of the jealously of him. Sigs of thompson in a unflattering manner aren't allowed, how about some class regarding the face of our franchise for a decade and a half?

September? He knows he can't make it a full season, but he's continuing to throw and stay "in shape". We haven't seen the last of 'ol Brett, yet. December 1 is my official "Brett's staying retired" date. If Minny's still in the hunt for a playoff spot, and the Minny QB's are still the weak spot, there just may be a roster move.

Yes, his flirtation with the Vikes leaves a bit of a sour taste, but I for one choose to be happy about this, and remember #4 for the unforgettable moments he gave to my team -- the Packers.

Don't think you'll see any of these happening in the near future, and I don't think you'll see Favre back in Green Bay for some time. They'll start talking about retiring his number again, but not until they are sure he is truly retired.

I have been consistently wrong in guessing what would happen from the end of 2007 on. I am pleased to have been wrong about his return to the Vikings. Not wanting to go overboard, but I guess I will, I think this decision might begin at least a little healing amongst the fan base.

IF and thats a big IF this is really the end. Let Favre and the Packers stay away for the 5 years until he goes into the hall. This will allow time to heal still open wounds on both sides. That way they both can come together and the Packers can have the first game be Brett Favre day. Let the city declare it offically Favre day in GB the Packers can put his name up in the ring of honor and retire his number. Right now though I just want to wait and see if Favre does not show up in Minn in a week or two saying he changed his mind and wants to try one more time.
