This nugget is at the end of a ESPN column in the Kevin Seifert NFC North blog:

"Meanwhile, Rice expressed some serious skepticism about Minnesota's pursuit of retired quarterback Brett Favre. Speaking to Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune, Rice said the Vikings are hoping for a "one-year miracle" and adding Favre could "really backfire."

I think Jerry knows what he's talking about

I agree with his thoughts, and he should know. He should have retired as a Niner, but stayed on way to long with the Raiders, and then even more so with the Seahawks.

I still havent forgiven Rice or the refs for 98.

I heard this on the radio, one camp calls Jerry a hypocrite the other says he never waffled on retirement....

What Rice really said

Indeed. I wonder if 49er fans consider him a traitor?

Agree with the Seahawks, but I think he had some good seasons with the Raiders, and he helped them get to a Super Bowl.

Looking back, you're right about the Raider stint.

No, but he didn't push to go to a bitter rival so he could hurt the Niners either. Niners/Raiders is an entertaining preseason game, and that's about it. Now, if he'd gone to the Cowboys like TO....

Why is it the so many of the greats play way past their prime and just hurt their legacy? Many people say player X was great but he could just not let it go and admit he was done and played to long and was a joke at the end.

Rice did his part. It's really only the ref that screwed us. And yeah, I'm still not over it, either. mad.gif

They don't bottom line is they don't. For a few jaded cynical fans they do, but for most fans they don't.

Its because for them it's their life. Its not about how some fans rememberr them, its how they want to live. No one marries someone because of how other people feel, you do it because of how you feel. They play because they still want to play and they enjoy it. If a few fans don't enjoy watching them anymore, so what?

20 million for one training camp and 16 games, why not? That is like $250,000 per hour. Not to shabby.

But if all BF wants to do is just play football why is MN the only team he is talking to (unless MN is the only team showing interest...)? blink.gif

I think you may have it backwards, Minnesota is the only team showing interest in him.
