Back in the 80's Hulk Hogan was the biggest wrestler of his day. The good guy who always took on the bad guy and usually won. He told kids to take their vitmans and say their prayers. He was looked up to by many. Then in the mid 90's they did something no one though they would ever do and that is make Hulk Hogan one of the bad guys. He did the normal bad guy things like jumping someone from behind and running down the crowd. He almost went overnight from beloved hero to hated villian. As I know wrestling is one big soap opera I wonder has Brett Favre not gone down the same path. Going from beloved hero to one of the most disliked people in the NFL today.

There's a big difference here. Hulk Hogan (aka Terry Bolea) was simply following a script to keep audience attention, and keep ratings high. Favre is choosing his own path (along with his family). One was part of an elaborate testerone driven soap opera. The other is simply running his reputation into the ground. The first is farce. The second, tragedy.

I'm not sure Brett is one of the most disliked players in the nfl. I'm not sure that the current events are a tragedy either. NFL fans who are not packer fans don't spend a lot of time thinking about Brett Favre. A tragedy would be Brett trying to lead his life based on what the fan base thinks.

Ten years from now, fans aren't going to be thinking about Brett Favre, let alone how he ended his carreer. Brett however, will have to live with whatever decision he makes for the rest of his life.

If the Packers didn't like his terms and moved on with their future option, and Brett gets what he feels is an opportunity to play for the super bowl, then I think he needs to do that for his sake. If in his mind he walks away early and leaves that opportunity on the table, then he will regret it for a long time. We as fans will move on very quickly.

In the worst case senario for us as fans, Brett beats us twice and goes on to the super bowl. I think I can livethrough that without serious issues. If our team is performing, then Brett going to Minnesota doesn't matter. We needto be good enough to beat them with or without Brett.

So no, I don't see a connection between Brett and Hulk Hogan. I see him like any other great athlete who won't quit until it is painfully obvious that their time has passed. Brett is just proving how wise Barry Sanders actually was.

Another, "Favre should be ostracized and he is a terrible person that should never do anything but mow his lawn," thread. Who started this thread anyway?
GBP4EVER
Mods please close thread since all it is doing is bring out the normal two people to attack me personally in posts like normal. I am thinking of maybe steping away because of the same 3-4 people who feel the need to attack people personally through posts instead of at least doing it through a PM.

Would you like me to show everybody what you sent me in a PM? Or should I respond in kind and start a flame war.

Gee, how mature. rolleyes.gif

what is it with you and all these stupid "I hate Favre" threads? They are ridiculous.

You have been added to my block list so stop PM'ing me.

We know it's the off season and 'news' is slow but do we need to keep bringing this Brett redundant crap up all the time?

Let's talk about the current team....the past is well...the past.
