Pretty good article. Luvda made the point too in one of the other threads. We put these guys on pedastals, when we really shouldn't. I admit I fell for the Brett Favre shtick hook, line, and sinker. Since High School I've sort of carried around the stereotype that athletes are jerks. Or at least the good ones are. It makes sense. They're constantly being cheered and told how great they are. It stands to reason it would go to their heads. Which is kind of ironic because supposedly sports are supposed to build character when it often seems to do the opposite. But I digress...
But for me, Brett Favre seemed to be one of the exceptions. He seemed like a guy who understood his flaws, learned from his mistakes and was humbled by them. When I found out he was just another athlete with an overinflated ego, I have to admit it hurt a little. I feel stupid for not having known better.
