2 months ago this was done. Sometime in the last few weeks Favre had surgury. And yet Bus Cook knows nothing about Favre's plans to return. rolleyes.gif

They can be cancelled....this is alot about nothing

Favre appears ready to sign with the Vikings relatively soon, contingent upon his throwing arm’s progress after recently having surgery on his injured shoulder. But friends and family members have been preparing for a while for his possible signing with the Vikings.

“They called and said if he goes to Minnesota they definitely want to be at the game,” said Doug Warpinski, the Ashwaubenon hotel’s manager.

The group isn’t required to guarantee payment for the rooms until 45 days before the check-in date, so it can cancel the reservations in the next two months without financial penalty. Warpinski said Favre’s family and friends routinely stayed at the hotel for home games in Favre’s final five years with the Packers.

If it comes to fruition then there are going to be some unhappy people leaving with their heads hung low heading back to Mississippi monday morning.

not sure how that can be said with a straight face? Where there is smoke there is fire. I would think his family knows what his intentions are thus booking the rooms. Now it all depends on his recovery. To say this is all about nothing is ignoring the facts.

One thing that everyone seems to be ignoring. They made these reservations a few MONTHS ago. Umm, Favre was still a Jet at the time. Anyone who doesn't think he tried to finagle his way out of there and over to the Vikings is just not living in reality. Why would his family book rooms for a Packer/Vikings game when Favre was still a Jet??? There is a reason Favre asked for his release from the Jets (a 2nd time) the day after they drafted their future franchise QB. He knew the new regime did not want to deal with what GB did this past season and they would let him go.

I booked rooms too. Maybe they are die hard Packer fans? unsure.gif

lot a speculation there. sure there may be smoke but just as much if not more specualtion.

would you not agree that they most likely have a better idea of brett's intentions than you or I do. Yes it is specualtion, but it is the same specualtion that turned out to be true last year. The facts are we know he wants to play for the vikings and the vikings want him to play for them. I would say that his family making these reservation is a clear indication that if he recovers from this operation that he and his family will be there. That's the only wild card holding this back, the recovery. Now if you want to say it's specualtion he will recover from his operation, that I would agree with.

Again, why would they think he may even possibly be a Viking if he was still a member of the Jets and had 1 year left on the contract unless they knew Favre had plans to get out of the contract somehow.

I think that Brett is entitled to play in any team that he wants, so far the US still is a free country.

And I believe that he wants to play for the Viqueens, and if he wants that then so be it.

I also believe there are only 2 ends to this issue:

1.- First Brett is right and he has a great season, maybe even a Superbowl appearance, I will be happy for him, but root for the opponent as I could never ever root for the queenies.

2.- Second, and I believe this is much more possible, Brett will have a season to forget and will ride into the sunset defeated by his and Deanna´s ego. The cherry on the cocktail for TT will be the Packers to make a deep playoff run.

Damn he got the perfect way out after his first retirement conference, but some people need to be shown in his face that reality is a stubborn bitch that wont go away just because you want it to. Maybe after a disappointing season Brett will take some professional counseling to get his foot back on earth and will call a press conference to apologize to each and every Packer fan.

After 10 years we will remember more of the good Brett than the not so good Brett.

Not me. I will remember him for the true colors he has shown lately. I hope the Packers dont ever retire that #4 and tear up the marketing deal. Basically wash their hands completely clean of him. If he does play for the Vikings, I hope it ends in a short time and he is hauled off the field crying like a baby.

My View on this matter is clear and concise, I look at the logic in things and then base my conclusions and opinions upon what I hear and finally make my Final conclusions on what I SEE for my own Eyes.

I have always been and always will be a Packer fan first and foremost. And yes I loved and cheered for Brett all the years he was at the helm at QB for the Packers.

So if these stories which appear to be true from the motor lodge, and this aligns with the reservations and time they transpired and after last years fiasco and bittereness and media hyping and trolling, then I can only come to one conclusion at this time, this could change if what I end up seeing with my own eyes I will change my conclusion.

As it is for right now, Brett and his family are only doing this for REVENGE on the Packer organization ( I guess as most state against TT ) but TT is still part of the Packer Family as well as the Fans , players and all organization employees. Why do I state this , I ask myself does his family have reservations for any other games on the Vicking Schedule.. This is something a good GB reporter needs to dig up. If this is the only game, then as a fair minded person you have to ask why this game ... I do live in reality and I dont believe it would be because they would feel they would get some great welcome mat bestowed on them with Brett showing up in Purple and yellow......Or because they love lambeau, no I believe this would be indicitive that the bitterness is alive and well in the Favre household against the packers.

I WOULD BE GLAD TO BE WRONG ON THIS EARLY CONCLUSION AND OPINION.... As it has really pissed me off over the last year or two to see this side of Brett, as I would have never thunk it...And no I am not laying all the blame on him....But no one can tell me he is not aware of how passionate the GB fans are, he of all people should know this.

Now if this is the route that Brett and his family plays out, I have seen many things mentioned here and many other sites, and I tend to agree , something like this would need to have a very strong statement from the Packers and its fans. And for those that will cherrish Favre no matter what he does that is fine as well. But as for me and I am sure there are others:

  • The #4 JERSEY'S I have will be mailed courtesy to the Vickings with Brett's name on them.
  • I will correspond and call the Executive Committee along with Mark Murphy and request that they reconsider on rescinding the $25 Million retirement package and marketing deal as this would be detrmental to the team and the public relations as well as mone not well invested, and its not like the Packers did not pay him a lot of money to play here.
  • I would also reconsider on retiring his # in Lambeau with the likes of Starr , Hornung and others..
If this is the way it plays out , and this ends up as the end game that Favre is doing to Play for the Vikings to get back at the Packers , then the Packers need to show Favre that even today the Packers are still bigger then the player, and without the Packers there would not have been as popular player as a Brett Favre.

Sorry but MY opinion on this is strong , I do not believe Brett is revealed the way he was had he played for any of the other 31 teams in the NFL. So whether Brett likes it or not the Packers were a good majority of the reason for his fame not just his play and his abilities. And to Case in Point , Marino was with the Dolphins , Elway with the Broncos, Aikman with the Boys, Montana and Young with the Niners.. These are all great and same caliber QB's as Brett , but they were never as popular as Brett across the contry and demographics, and I must say this sure seems like being a Packer sure as heck made Brett more Popular..

Sorry on being long winded, But I am getting so fed up with this garbage , it is unreal.... My Team the Packers are an extension of my family, so Brett you were once a longstanding part of this family but please retire.... Enjoy life .... You played great for a darn long time... Youve earned but lets not muddy this thing up anymore then it needs to be...

Got that right...hope they knock him on his butt.

BF is dead to me now...worse then dead. Last straw...

He should never be forgiven for this...this treachery.

Going to the game don't care what it costs...won't miss the chance to boo him as loud as I can.

Give his number to the punter...ban him from the Packer Hall of Fame...

Tear the street signs or anything else bearing his name.

And as for the current Packers Defense...

NO MERCY!!!!!

Way to ruin a perfectly useless topic with logic.

Excellent post jp.

I echo many of those thoughts. I do not post in the BF forum very often. I am going to wait until the entire situation plays out before I post my opinion and subsequent rant. Not that anyone cares about my opinion, but it will feel good to get it off my chest.
JimATX
Heard from a reliable source that Brett Favre called the Packers to see if he could get tickets for the Packers/Vikings game. They hung up the phone on him.

If I were the manager of the Midway Motor Lodge I would have told Favre's family to get bent. It's not like those rooms would not have gotten filled anyway that weekend.....

Both posters above need to start paradine thinking (outside the box if you don't speak TTT).

Allow them to check in and then call the cops and have them arrested for being "lewd and obnoxious". Which as queens fans would be true.

PR and you accomplish the perfect result.

You miss the point: Every hotel room in GB is booked on every gameday weekend. This helps the hotel in no way. In fact all it can do is hurt because people may boycott staying at that hotel out of principle on non-gamedays. You sir, are fired.

Here is a link to that Radio interview with Wilde.

ESPN Radio Milwaukee
Go to the link for 6-10-09 D-List. It's about 7 minutes in.

Your description of what he says is pretty accurate. He does say that his source is with the Vikings and knows Favre.

This would seem like a pretty credible source to me.

Just one interesting note, Jason Wilde went to UW Madison and graduated from there in 1994. He then started working for the Wisconsin State Journal out of Madison.

Darrell Bevell was QB at Madison from 1993 to 1995, the same years Wilde was either a student or working for the State Journal. He was also with the Packers from 2000 - 2005. I'm guessing Wilde go to know him there as well.

Not saying the Darrell is Wilde's source, but with that much overlap, there has to be some sort of relationship there.

I cannot deny or confirm your supposition of the Wilde / Bevell connection.

Yep, I've heard that as well. That's why it makes sense for Wilde to be leaking stuff from the Viking's camp, and not from the Favre camp.
