Didn't they want an answer like three weeks ago, too? biggrin.gif

Seriously, they're already at Favre's mercy despite whatever b.s. they're telling the media. If he says in August that he's ready to play, they'll take him back, no doubt about it.

IF this report has any merit, that ought to be enough for Favre to decide to stay retired. After all, who dares make demands of him????

If the Vikings say No, maybe he'll come and play for the Packers just to stick it to the Vikings. wink.gif

I agree. If they're not willing to wait until the night before the season opener for him, well golly, that just means they're not willing to pull out all the stops for him, which in turn means they can't want him THAT bad...

This post is hilarious!! I mean, what team in their right mind would want an answer about who their starting quarterback will be before training camp??? Maybe Brett will talk with Greta again about how the Vikings are treating him wrong for wanting to know his answer and rushing him to make a decision.

They are probably not calling him enough to let him know they want him.

Except when Jim McMahon wore his Bear jersey at the Pack's photo op at the White House, after the Super Bowl. I still despise him for that.

Regardless of anything, this is going to make for big television if Favre plays against the Packers wearing purple.

As much as I loved the guy,

I hope our refurbished, Capers-led, attacking defense shuts him down, and picks his tosses like apples on a low hanging tree.

I'm not really all that concerned about Favre going to the Vikings. He's in way over his head. All the QBs on all the other teams are practicing "right now" as we speak. As usual, Favre is taking it easy and waiting until the last minute to make a decision. He should have had the surgery a long time ago and should be practicing right now. McCarthy coached him and knows his tendencies. We all now how Favre has done against the 3-4 defense in the past. I hope we pick him off and sack him all game long. I'm tired of the guys antics. I once worshipped the guy as a kid and as a teenager. Now the guy makes me puke. He literally acts 1/4 (no pun intended) of his age. If he attempts to go back to the Vikings to stick it to the Packers and fails, his legacy will be permanently damaged. Its already pretty damaged as is. He could have left on top of his game after the 2007 season but has chosen to play these silly retirement games. A lot of people are going to remember the latter. All this talk that Favre is going to lead a team to the Super Bowl is silly. He had the perfect opportunity in 2007 and blew it. Just like he's blown playoff games the entire decade. Favre thinks he is still in his 20s when he could not take the offseason as seriously and still play at an elite level. He isn't in his 20s anymore and needs to work out even harder in the offseason to keep up with the younger guys. Does he really think at 39 years old that he can essentially take the entire offseason off and still play at an elite level? Maybe for a few games but Favre keeps collapsing at the end of seasons and can only blame himself for the lack of dedication in the offseason.

If Favre ends up in purple.....who else thinks that the NFL will make an exception to their own flex scheduling rules and make the 11/1/09 Pack-Vike game at Lambeau a prime time game somehow? Heck, it would probably draw more ratings than any other game watched this coming season outside of the superbowl.

I would be a bit suprised if they didn't. This is just as big or bigger than the Giants-Patriots game a couple of years ago that they made an exception for (although that was a slightly different situation).

Also, SI.com reporting this morning that there is no deadline. Look under the Morning Jolt.
OH Packer revisited
He's coming back because he believes he is the missing piece for the Vikes to go to a superbowl. Who knows, great defense and great running game. They don't have receivers but Favre has had good success with some way subpar wrs in the past. Maybe he'll be right. I hope one of our LBs ends his ironman streak though. He puts on a purple uni and I hope the Packers organization washes their hands completely of Brett Favre.

Seems funny from fans who just wanted to move on. Favre was traded by the Packers, GB did not want Brett Favre. The train left the station, Brett Favre is responsible for the high taxes in Wisconsin. I will be disappointed, hurt even to see Brett in purple if that were to ever happen. Just don't complain when a bum picks up the old shoes you tossed aside. Favre is free to play for whomever he chooses. Anyone choosing to sell their Favre Packer jersey, I maybe interested. I have one, but can always use more.

I for one would love to move on but if Favre comes back to play for the Vikings, it is very hard to do so. Yes, the train had left the station but it should be pointed out that Bret Favre is the one who started the train and put it into gear. He certainly has every right to play for the Vikings but I also have every right to think less of him for doing so and to root against him. IMO, it's all very sad.

I think that Brett is entitled to play in any team that he wants, so far the US still is a free country.

And I believe that he wants to play for the Viqueens, and if he wants that then so be it.

I also believe there are only 2 ends to this issue:

1.- First Brett is right and he has a great season, maybe even a Superbowl appearance, I will be happy for him, but root for the opponent as I could never ever root for the queenies.

2.- Second, and I believe this is much more possible, Brett will have a season to forget and will ride into the sunset defeated by his and Deanna´s ego. The cherry on the cocktail for TT will be the Packers to make a deep playoff run.

Damn he got the perfect way out after his first retirement conference, but some people need to be shown in his face that reality is a stubborn bitch that wont go away just because you want it to. Maybe after a disappointing season Brett will take some professional counseling to get his foot back on earth and will call a press conference to apologize to each and every Packer fan.

After 10 years we will remember more of the good Brett than the not so good Brett.

So I am keeping my #4 jersey

...aand that sound you just heard was the analogy snapping after being stretched beyond its breaking point.

Favre wants to get back at the Packers for whatever wrongs he imagines having been committed against him, that's his right. Likewise, it's the right of Packers fans to hope he gets whupped when he plays our team. Nothing more, nothing less.

Exactly. He has the right to join the vikes, just like I have the right to sell his jersey and hate him for it. He has the right to feel betrayed and now so do I.

So I hear on the Radio that Favre has blocked off 25 rooms in the Motor lodge for the Queens vs Packers at Lambeau... interesting

Come on, Brett returning to play for the Vikings is really the ultimate act of loyalty to packer fans, as now too old and broken down to start for the packers, he goes to play for their arch rivals, throws many interceptions which cause the vikings to miss the playoffs and the packers to win the division!!!!

Brett is really a double agent!!!!

Hey, this has as many named sources as any of ESPN's stories on the subject.

So let him.

Its his problem not ours. Regurgating the same opnion on Favre over and over probably wont change his mind.

Being pissed, feeling betrayed, saying things like " he is dead to me" as most posters have done wont change a thing. The best the Packers can do is move on, forget about him and if he shows up in purple this year then put him on his backside and take as many balls as they can from him.

I'd like to join the "don't care" crowd as well, but frankly the thought of Favre suiting up for a division opponent so he can "get back" at my team pisses me off. Which is silly, of course, but then again frankly so is watching a bunch of guys carry a misshapen ball around the field for several hours each week.

So I won't pretend I don't care. I will, however, ask: "Why are the Vikings trying to push Favre out the door?":

My point is we cant control it. He hasnt been with the team in a year. He's choosing his own path and his decision will have ramifications that he will have to deal with and more then likely wont be good.

Does anyone have a list of every reporter who's had his reputation tarnished over these supposed erroneous reports? Schaap and Mort I believe. Didn't Peter King get in there, too? unsure.gif I don't have a lot of respect for the news media, but it's a little tough to believe all these people are getting bad intel.

And Childress saying that he doesn't have time to constantly be answering Favre questions is rediculous, too. If he was just forthright about what was going on, he wouldn't have to spend that much time on it. Instead he's giving vague, little one line comments, and he expects that to be enough. When reports were all over the place that he was going to Mississippi, he could have squashed that in 2 seconds. So him playing the "it's all a media creation card" while he remained mostly silent the last couple months is lame to say the least. He's been secretive the whole time and he knows it.

I see it this way, if someone was selling Benedict Arnold's Continental Army uniform they would get less than selling George Washington's. I see Brett for what he gave the Packers and Fans for 16 seasons. I see some as seeing Brett as Benedict, I do not! I also do not think I should pay George Washington prices for it. I will try to be competitive with Heat's bidding by saying $35.00. Now some will say I'm being dramatic with my analogy, I do this to add emphasis to my points.
