I have been offered Grady Sizemore, Matt Holliday and Mark De Rosa for David Wright and Andre Either. I really like Wright but I'm thinkin' this is a pretty good deal for me. I already have Soriano and Nelson Cruz in the OF and I could put De Rosa at 3B instead of Wright.

Thoughts please???

IMO. I would not do it. You get 3 for 2, so you are getting "quantity" over "quality". I would gladly accept this trade in reverse. Wright is a top notch player and Either is putting good numbers. Sizemore has slumped badly this year and I am biased, but don't like him that much. Holliday is very good, but I am not looking to trade a 3B for OF. De Rosa? Has he ever been that good over the years?? Not for me.

Well it's hard to give an opinion without seeing your whole team but...

DeRosa for Wright is a win for you (an even bigger win, once Wright starts smacking the ball out the park, which will happen).

The whole question is, whether you have another OF to replace Holliday's value? DeRosa for Wright is an obvious win for you. Sizemore will eventually come through and start getting his average up and Ethier will have Manny behind him again in a month. So I expect both to continue to be at each others levels, come a month from now. So that's a wash.

The only thing now is Holliday. He's getting Holliday as an extra guy. If you have someone to take his spot legitimately, then this would be a trade to say yes to. If you don't, I wouldn't do it.

My rule of thumb is, never trade if it hurts your starting lineup in anyway. Because then you're falling into the trap of "trading just to trade".

Well in that case, at this current time, Wright is a little better then DeRosa but not for long. Once Wright starts smacking HR's at a quicker pace, he'll be one of the best players in fantasy again.

So that's a lose for you.

Then you're giving up Ethier for Sizemore and Holliday. Sizemore is doing good right now but not top 3 OF good yet. And yet is the key word. Even if Ethier starts to hit again once Manny comes back, it's very doubtful he'd ever reach the upside of Sizemore. And I don't see Sizemore staying "average" for much longer. While Ethier will be down in the dumps for the whole month of June while Manny's out.

So I think your slightly upgrading that position. Plus you're getting Holliday as some depth, so another win.

So you're downgrading your 3B position but slightly upgrading an OF spot plus getting some depth. I would say no.

DeRosa is old and for that reason is not reliable enough to trust all season long (he has shown some rust this year). Wright's starting slow, but he's going to warm up and I think you'll regret it if he becomes a top 10 fantasy position player again. So the loss at 3B I don't think is worth a slight upgrade at OF plus some depth.

You're trading just to trade.
