Or maybe it's "To consult Dr. Andrews or not to consult Dr. Andrews"
As Madman says

Ok, this is beyond tiresome.
Favre Doesn't Want SurgeryWhich, without even following the link, is obviously the ESPN story Greg Bedard refers to
in this morning's blog:QUOTE (Greg Bedard)
But once again, another report disputes that story. ESPN's Ed Werder, who has had access to Favre previously in the offseason, said there is no appointment scheduled for today and that surgery is not imminent. Favre would rather try to get the partial tear to release by non-surgical options, or by his own prodding with cortisone injections, biceps curls or light throwing. Werder said: "If the tendon releases and the pain subsides, Favre is virtually certain to play again. If he has surgery and his arm strength diminishes or the pain remains, he will remain retired, the source said."
This backs up Favre's sentiments a few months ago, when he retired from the New York Jets and said that he wasn't willing to have surgery to keep playing.
The source told ESPN that Favre would play for the Vikings and participate in all the offseason work and training camp if the pain in the shoulder diminished. But here's another interesting part of Werder's report: "Either way, Favre is losing patience, causing the source to say the shoulder problem must be overcome soon or Favre is likely to abandon his effort to play a 19th NFL season."
It's all sort of like that display I saw when I was young in an exhibition on illusion in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. It was a small, wall mounted set of pipes, as I recall, which played an ever ascending tonal scale that never rose above human hearing range. I stood by that thing for, oh, must have been around 15 minutes, and the notes, thousands of them, just kept climbing the scales. It utterly baffled me.
