Its the nature of journalism now a days. Big names involved in any kind of contoversey or scandal, like steroids in baseball sells more than reporting on a 30 game hitting streak. We're a National Enquirer type nation now. The American public likes to tear people down. The more popular and in the case of Hollywood, the more beautiful and rich, the better. Heck, even look at prime time "news channels". Casey Anthony story gets more precedence than Afghanastan. Why? Because the alleged tot mom killer is a beautiful woman. Sports news has become for the most part tabloid news as well, imo.

LOL! smile.gif What bothers me is that the most recent T-shirt I bought at the Packers store was ""Its a Packers world- you're just living in it". Once Favre left the Packers, I personally dwelt him farewell. He was dealt to the Jets and Rodgers was taking over? I was around when Hornung, Taylor, Starr, Adderly, Gregg and others went elsewhere. It happens. Time to move on.

What I find interesting is that some are now claiming that Favre's desire to go to Minny is not all his own decision- but that these are revenge fantasies cooked up by Favre's family- in particular, Deanna. Could be. I know when I was bothered by someone at my chosen profession (teaching- also for the inimitable Mrs. ricky), my wife was very quick to defend me, and held a grudge a lot longer than I did. True? Who knows? But to me, from personal experience, plausible.

Good post ricky. Alot of times during all this I also don't here mention of one of the greatest Packers to retire and then "jump ship", Vince Lombardi, Washinton Redskins. What a traitor laugh.gif

Not that Favre isn't at fault for most of this, but Cook has some involevemnt with this as well. Look at how the Whole Jay Culter thing went down. Both Favre and Culter have the same agent. One of the things that Favre is mad at TT for is not getting Randy Moss. Guess who's Randy Moss's agent is? It is Bus Cook. I suspect that Cook wasn't entirely truthful with Favre how Moss ended up in New England. When Moss heard that New England was interested I think there was no way that he was coming to Green Bay. Of course Favre hearing that the trade didn't go down was probably ticked. So Cook probably put all of the blame on the Packers.

Of course Favre was ticked about other things, but I wouldn't over look Cook's role in this (especially considering how the Jay Culter trade went down).

Good point. Here in the "United States of Favre," most citizens are completely oblivious to this entire situation. We make a choice to follow Favre.

Soap Operas stay on the air for 50 years. Let's hope this ends before then.

"You might point out that Favre's numbers last year (22 touchdowns, 22 interceptions, 81.0 passer rating) were no better than David Garrard's (15, 13, 81.7)."

Ouch!

"You might even point out that the quarterback who replaced Favre (Rodgers) and the quarterback Favre replaced (Chad Pennington) both had better years than he did."

Double ouch!

Why do we care if Favre goes to the Vikings again??

Some people may. I do not. The guy is dead to me. He's not in my top-5 sports heroes, or even on the list. He's also not in my top 5 QB of all time list, or even ranked. The guy was an overrated media creation built to be the Micheal Jordan of the NFL. In hindsight I'm thinkin' that was a bad plan, because now it seems there's egg on everyone's face - from the fans to the media to the teams to the NFL.

I question why people are actually starting these threads. Let it go. He probably never was what people thought he was.
Gregg
Favre is an all time Top Ten QB. At least for now. Until Manning and Brady quit.

I never thought he was in the all time top five. Like many on this site did.

But if he comes back fully healthy, I think he can help Minny. If for just one year.

ANd man will he sell tickets there.

That's an interesting article, looking at it now. Isn't it funny that we had all those arguments about that season, whether it was Thompson's fault or Sherman's, and yet if memory serves, we rarely if ever mentioned Favre.

It's the most interesting topic to discuss, frankly. The national sport news covers it extensivley. Why not here? Rather we discuss the competition for back up at the tight end position or the merits of of who is the better prosspect to be a wedge buster on special teams. It's May. Give me all the Favre talk I can get.
