I follow Nick Barnett on Twitter and here is what he has to say today:

QUOTE
Thoughts on frave... Well didn't want to comment but hey anyways I think he should do what ever he feels is in his heart.. But once he puts that purple (on) He will become an enemy which is all part of the game.. It's hard to imagine him doing that. But if it's in his head...

Notice even Barnett spelled Favre's name wrong, so I guess people shouldn't get on posters here for misspelling his name. Barnett calls him the enemy if he puts on the Viking colors. If his former teammates view him as such, shouldn't the fans be allowed to view him the same way?

Yes, enemy as an opponent. But I doubt Barnett is looking to end Favre's career.

Hating someone because they are on a different (rival) team is different than fans hating as a person.

I don't hate him as a person. I feel sorry for him as a person.
As a non-Packer, I do consider him the Enemy, the same way it appears that Barnett does.

All I know is that if he does indeed come back, I want the Packers to spank the Vikings silly in both games...especially at Lambeau. And I want the fans to get under his skin as they boo him mercilessly, causing him to have a mistake-prone game.

Like a four-year old sitting in the corner after doing something bad, I want him to think about what he has done.

As a player if my Brother (or even my mother) put on the opposing colors and was lined up on the other side of the ball they are the enemy!

Until the end of the game.

But like we see ALL THE TIME........... after the game... it is a different story.

Players have relationships and history with a LOT of other players in the NFL.

Players that they went to HS, College and even played with on other teams in the NFL.

Bonds and friendships are made in the game of football that do not dissipate just because one of the players are now on another team.

As for the other posts made on this thread I really do not know why the word......... HATE....... had to be introduced to this thread.

Exactly.

I don't think the author of this thread correctly understands the term "enemy" and how it relates to football.

Thanks for the condescending tone. As someone who has played football on a college level as well as been in the military, I know very well what the term enemy means both in real life as well as football. I was using it the same way Barnett was. Like I said, Favre will be the Enemy if he becomes a Viking. So are all Bears, Cowboys, Lions, and any other team you want to trot out there.

I'd like you to find just one post by me where I say I either don't like Favre the person, where I want him to be injured, where I hate him, or anything of the sort.

Interesting that the word "hate" came in the thread as "Hating someone because they are on a different (rival) team is different than fans hating as a person. " Other threads use words that I would guess would not be normally used if people had to explain them. Hate does not need to used, but who said "I hate ....." No one here, so far.

He's an enemy just like any other opponent would be. Nothing more, nothing less.

Man, the overanalysis in this thread is rich.

I think we all understand that football opponents are enemies in the sense of "I wish to see them defeated by the football team I support" rather than "I want to see his house burned to the ground and the earth salted so nothing will ever grow there again".

Well, that's the sad part of Favre to the Vikings, isn't it? He's just another player on another team now. He used to be a legend, now he's just another opponent to beat up. Who knows, maybe that's the way he wants it.

Um, that's the way I feel about Jared Allen and Brad Childress. Should I seek help?

I'm trying to figure out where it is all coming from. I posted Barnett's tweet, and said that if our own team considers him an enemy, coulsn't we? I said nothing about hating him as a player, hating him as a person, trying to injure him, or anything else. The word hate isn't even in my post. blink.gif
eX Oh
Farve has been an enemy to Packer Football for awhile now.

Nothing newsworthy or earth-shattering about Barnett's comments.

Or when their tweeter is on, whatever that means dry.gif I saw a woman pay for her goods at a convience store, go in and out of the restroom after filling her tank with gas without ever interupting her consevation on her cell phone. Rude to the clerk that served her? Yes. Empty void life? Probabable. Lonely? She won't know till she's ever forced to have a moment in her own thoughts.
