Zach Cruse has the lead article on PackerChatters right now and he closes with this:

So my plea to Favre is simple: Stay retired. End the Vikings' talk and your immature impulses for revenge. You're still a hero to me and millions of Packers fans. Don't ruin that for yourself.

I hate to break it to Zach, but I don't think Favre much cares about being a "hero" -- Brett just wants to compete. Whether that's compete for another title or compete for the sake of his ego...I don't know. But it seems clear he wants to compete. And if so, my feeling is this: let him!

We've already seen him in a Jets uniform. If he wants to put on purple, then fine. And if/when he does, I hope he gets buried on every play (and intercepted on every other). It's not that I hate Favre. I don't. I just hate the Vikings.

Like many in Packerland, I was devastated over the divorce. But I think I've reached a point of acceptance with it all. Brett loved to compete--and we loved him for it. But it's those same competitive urges that wouldn't (and won't) let him walk away. So in other words, if you're going to love Brett Favre the competitor -- then you can't begrudge Brett Favre the competitor. You have to take the good with the bad.

Brett will always be a Packer and he will always be my childhood hero. Nothing can change that, not even an ugly, smelly, stupid purple queeny uniform...
