The Packers were considering 4 players at 9 according to a piece Mc Ginn had today. While Crabtree was at the top of the list they thought adding him to a deep corps of receivers woulkd be disruptive as no one would get the opportunities they wanted.
Raji was next in line obviously but Ted was prepared to take Mattheews if Raji wasn't there. They liked Oher a lot but had Pettigrew ranked slightly higher.
While Raji Crabtree and Oher got a lot of discussion I don't think anyone here had Pettigrew as a top consideration.

Very interesting. It's all about the scouting. The trade got considerable criticism based on the old Cowboys point system, at which we overpaid for a #26. (According to GBPG thing last weekend, according to one or two of the updated point systems it was level or perhaps slightly in our favor.) But if Matthews is viewed by TT as worth a #10 or #15 or #19 value pick, then even under the old Cowboy points it's still a good deal, and even more so by the updated point systems.
The key is the scouting. Is he going to play like a disappointing #26? You'll regret it. Is he going to play like a guy who'd be viewed as an impact winner even if he was a #9, then you won't regret it.
Depends on whether you scouted him right or not.

If the Packers truly had Matthews, Oher, and Pettigrew ranked similarly, I'm guessing TT started looking at jumping back into the first when all three were still there before Detroit picked at 20, and when both Oher and Matthews were still there at 23.
I'd also imagine that had both Raji and Crabtree been off the board, they probably trade back to land one of those three. Here's hoping TT's scouting was correct on Matthews value and ability!!
