I just sat in front of the TV for 6 hours & I wish it just went through the night! I can't wait for 8am tomorrow to role around! I know some of the expectations for tomorrow have faded with the tradings of the two 3rd rounders but our work can't be done! With numerous picks, I think we still need to 'hit' on some players that can help us out next year, specifically an Offensive Tackle/D-END. What does everyone expect out of tomorrow? Who are some later round guys you like that could help us?

I expect to see a punter taken at some point.
I also think you will see some DT taken to be used as DE in the 3-4
If there are any OL that intrigue to packers you may see those go also.

I can not see the Packers wasting a pick on a punter with 6 left. Maybe as a UDFA.

I just think that TT is obviously working on winning this year. All most all of the picks tomorrow will be for depth or projects to develop unless TT manages to trade up again into the 3rd. But taking a punter gives you another starter (especially compared to what we have at the moment) which will directly effect winning next season. But thats only my speculation.

I think Harris is too important to ship tomorrow for a 2nd day draft pick. We just dont have the secondary depth to do so. Well on the other hand looks to be a bit more expendable.

I would agree with your comments about Harris, I still think he has a little left in the tank. I do see quite a few round 3 guys I would love to have: Caldwell, Ingram, Coffman, etc. Any guys you would love to pin point or love to see them end up in GB.

No Punter. Very few punters perform well their first year. Just don't do it. No trades of players, either. If they get beat out and get cut or become reserve player, then so be it. I believe in Harris and Kampman and they will continue to be up with the best players on the D. The D will be very good and we won't have to wait it out much. A DE would be nice, but listening to Thompson and the coaches, Pickett will be GB's starting DE, if no one else steps us. I really see this. Still, Pickett will play the NT as well. Rotation of 5 players should be the norm. If GB picks up a Carter or Holiday, fine. If not, what about putting Thompson at DE instead of OLB.
Finally, I see OL (OG/OT) at least one, RB only one, DL, and DB. That would be 5 picks.

So with Meridith still sitting on the board in the 3rd you think there is any chance that Now Trade up Ted swings a deal for a 4th and 5th etc to move up if he sees him slip some? I'd love to see it, especially considering we have extra 5th and 6th rounders to play with.

Apr 25 2009, 07:34 PM
Well Jarron Gilbert would be great as another 3-4 DE but I suspect he will be gone by then.
Maybe Mitch King or Terrance Taylor to provide DL depth. Maybe Jamon Meridith for OT depth if he continues to drop. If D.J. Moore is around, another CB would be nice.
Thats my wish list at least.

I can see them adding a beefier fullback likeQuinn Johnson from LSU or Sutherland from Georgia. They seem to be interested in adding a punter based on an article in todays Journal Sentinel. I could see adding a blocking tight end like Pascoe or Phillips.
Those are examples of players that they can expect contributions from next year.
Watkins from Florida and Fulton from Illinois are two developmental offensive tackles that come to mind. Perhaps Murtha from Nebraska.
Will probably be taking a developmenal DE like Melton from Texas.
Those are some names that come to mind.

Here is a name to watch on day 2 of the draft as a LATE pick (round 7) or as an undrafted free agent.....
Willie Williams, OLB, formally of Miami (Fla) and Louisville. He is a charector risk but has a great skill set. I was told they (the Packers) have done a LOT of home work on him. I didn't think anything of it until I got a text tonight reminding me to keep my eye on him.
As for players who the Packers like on day two.....
Jason Williams-OLB- W. Illinois
Shonn Greene- RB- Iowa
DeAndre Levy- OLB- Wisconsin
Stephen McGee- QB- Texas A&M

Apr 25 2009, 09:13 PM
If OT Troy Kropog slips to the 4th, the Pack may make a play. Word is, they have interest. I'd hope because of injury that Mike Mickens might slip to us but it's doubtful. I'd like to see a scatback taken late, a 3rd down guy, someone like Aaron Brown from TCU. Small guy, good hands, jitterbug kind of guy. Guys like that drive defense's nuts. None of our backs really make anybody miss.
I wonder if the Pack might not take a shot at a guy like Henry Melton {DE-Texas}? Bulk him up for a DE role , let him learn behind the vets. Or, could even drop some weight and play OLB.
Possibly a punter to compete ? A later round safety that may interest is Greene out of Rutgers.

Maualuga is a MLB that could never play outside because he does not have good hip movement and plays to stiff. Matthews is a pure OLB that fits better into a 3-4 where Maualuga fits better into a 4-3.

So if TT does not make that trade, we could have had:
1. Raji
2. Pick of Barwin, Sintim, Brown-OLB
3. OT Meredith
3. DE Gilbert
In other words, Mathews had better produce like heck, and produce very quickly.
Because we really needed a good OT prospect and a real 3-4 DE, instead of two DT's in Jolly and Harrell.

I may be all wet but I would really like to see another bold move by TT. Offer up our 2nd round pick next year to get the Rams pick in the 3rd this year. Select Jarron Gilbert.
If things play out as they should, the Pack wins the division and it becomes a late 2nd anyway.

Another
name to keep an eye open for is Usain Bolt. I can't imagine him actually playing in the NFL, but would anybody be shocked if the Raiders picked him today? I suspect that his speed is intriguing to every team, but it might be too much for Al Davis.

I like T.J. Lang. He's smart and strong, but I think he's a G at the next level. If that's a priority for us, I'd be very happy with Lang.

Day 1 was Christmas and my Birthday rolled into one. Love the Matthews pick. His 10 yard split is phenomenal, say goodnight Cutler.
A couple of these guys to add some depth will make it the best draft ever. At least one of the mentioned should be available in each round.

KR/WR: Mike Wallace,
KR/CB: Garvin
DTs: Sammy Lee Hill, Baker, Taylor
