Full Version: Wild Kind Of Draft Scenario
PackerChatters > PackerChatters > Draft Talk

Was doing work while listening to the local radio station over the last few days and heard a similar scenario described as a longshot by various "draft experts". It was all based on the fact that the Chiefs may pick Jackson in the #3 slot. One of the guys said this kind of scenario would turn the draft on its head:

1 Stafford
2 Smith
3 Jackson (key here)
4 Monroe
5 Raji
6 Smith

The guy indicated that at this point it could get really wild over the next 30 - 45 minutes. Al Davis would then have to trade away from the playmaker that he targeted. If he doesn't, that would mean that Sanchez and Curry would still be on the board at #8. This would be a dream scenario for the Jags as folks looking at both Sanches and Curry would be trying to move up. Guy said he could see the Packers try to move up to 7 to get Curry (allowing Davis to still get his playmaker at 9) , or sit tight hoping to get Curry at #9 . . . or prepare to trade back. I think he pretty well covered every option for the Pack.

By the way, Joe also mentioned this, but it seemed such a longshot (Joe said that too) that I didn't even mention it before. Now that I have heard it from multiple sources, I thought I would throw it out for speculation and enjoyment.

Thanks for the info.
I have heard that TT is real high on Jackson too. It always scares me when a guy sky rockets up the charts right before the draft. One month ago he was late 1st round at best. How do you go from 23 to possibly 3 when you have not played a game in 4 months.

I am skeptical.

The difference is that teams have boards set now and have leaked some of that information to the media.

I remember Mario Williams coming out of nowhere and signing on Friday night. He was targeted as a Packer pick before that.
So far I have Jason Smith at second, after that it is very confusing. Thinking Monroe to Kansas City.

I'm not sure I would move up to get Curry. He is good, but he is an inside guy in a 3-4

Thats what I heard all along he is not good at rushing the passer. Sounds like a smokescreen. I do see Kansas City passing on him right now though.

I think KC's interest in him was if they were able to move down and get him not at #3.

Sounds exactly right to me...damn it wanted Tyson.
